I have a spector legend 5 that is distorting at any volume. Was wondering if it could be the tone pump jr or the emg ssd pickups?I have a identical bass with the same preamp and pickups setup that is super clean.I've checked all solder connections and it all seems intact.Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Battery's a likely culprit.

Tis' The Season for tone pumps going. I have a Spector Legend 5 and I'm experiencing almost the same problem. Tried several batteries and there is no difference. If I plug into the passive jack, I get about the same tone as I used to get out of the active so I'm thinking it's the tone pump jr. Does anyone know how much to fix this is? This was not an expensive base to start with, so sinking $200 - $300 into it probably wouldn't be worth it. I have also read that you can't get the Tone Pump Jr anymore and some are replacing them with EMG or Aguilar. Another way to go is installing a bypass switch and just using it as a passive bass.

Is it possible to bypass it and make it 100% passive?
