Spector Legend 5

Any comments on this bass? The particular one i'm looking at has one humbucker, and one jazz pickup.

Are they good basses? Good sustain? Active? Neck-through?
Light?

Tell me about your experience. approximate prices on what i should pay on one would be good.

Also, what genre do you play it in?

oh, and for my GAS, post your pics too :hyper:

and lastly, what is the top made of ? it kinda looks like flamed maple, but is more wavy...

thanks!

what is that called?

I had one for a couple of days. To my ear it was a weak tone without any character and the dang thing had some serious neck dive issues - I took it back and picked up an Ibanez SR505. That Legend had EMG pickups, which I don't really care for, and while it sounded alright by itself it was absolutely buried in a band setting. I dig Warwicks and Stingrays, so maybe I just prefer thicker-sounding basses, but if that one speaks to you then go for it.

I also have a Legend 6 and I love it. It has passive EMG-SSD pups (which I like) and a Tone Pump Jr. that's ok, just don't expect more than "pumping" up your lows and/or highs. As for the neck, some are bolt-on some are set, that one looks like a BO though. As for weight, my 6 is around 13 lbs so it's heavy, but I don't know about the 5s. I primarily use it for jazz and funk, that's more because it's a 6. Legends will work for just about anything.

And if you can't get a thick tone out of one, you're doing it wrong.
