weird. i posted this, then checked on it and TB said it was an invalid thread. that it had been "moved or deleted". so, sorry if this is a re-post.

hello TB'ers.

i have a super minty 6 string Spector Legend (Classic i think?). it's whichever model shipped with the gold hardware. i got it from GC about 2 years ago, it's been professionally set up, but i rarely play it. i'm going to be listing it on Craiglist and i have no idea what i should ask for it.

does anybody know about how much this should go for?

thanks much!

KAY!

just became a Supporting Member. hope that keeps this thread open. if not i'll re-post the question later.

THANKS for letting me know i was breaking the rules! i didn't want to.... just being ignorant. i blame it on Micro$oft for ingraining a habit of ignoring License Agreements.

so...... anybody have an idea what i should ask for this when i try to sell it?

thanks!

:D That was fast!

If it's a Classic (bolt on neck) then I would say around the $350 range. That's what used ones were going for about 6 months ago. Actually now that you're a supporting member, you can sell in the Talkbass classifieds. Best place to sell or buy something IMO.

it's a Korean made one (REALLY should look at the back of things once in a while). Serial number is 4118.... i think i paid about $500 when i bought it new about three years ago. is that just depreciation or did i get jacked on the price a bit? it was an upgrade (i thought) at GC from Bubinga top one i ordered that they figured out wasn't available any more like 2 weeks after i ordered it. gotta LOVE GC.

Yep that's depreciation. Sounds about right for the new price. They go for $529 now. You might want to check the completed listings on Ebay. That's always a way to get an idea of what the current used prices on basses are at the moment.

it's a VERY nice bass... i just never really use it and i want to get another bass identical to my favorite bass. i like the idea of having the exact same thing waiting for me if i screw up my bass in a live setting.

lol.... i guess super mint might be a stretch for the discriminating tastes of some TB'ers. i just meant it has no damage on it, has been professionally setup and has never been gigged. i'm going to remove the stickers and use Goo Gone to get rid of any residue before i list it.... but FunkMetalBass asked for some pics to be posted.

Forget the PM I sent for pix (from your other thread). If you get those stickers off well, I am interested. (Yeah , the stickers don't really work for me on a bass like that either. :hmm:)

lol.... i can understand that some people prefer the bass with out adornments like stickers, but really? going from $350 down to $200 because of something that can be removed without doing any damage to the wood under it all? that's a little harsh. to each their own.

"Why would you cover up that woodgrain anyway?" i've just always liked the way instruments look better when they are a little different than stock. but i'm not a luthier, so i'm afraid to do any serious mods myself. for me stickers or decals add a touch of different without doing something that negatively effects the instrument.

It sounds weird, but that's honestly how it works - especially on basses that are designed to show a figured wood top.

Stickers can potentially harm the finish, so the buyer has no way of knowing if his bass will need a re-fin afterwards. They also are a customization, and custom basses are made for a single player, not the masses, so that brings it down as well.

You should definitely pull the stickers off before trying to sell any bass.

That's the sexy amberburst color I've been eyeing for sometime as well. I need another 6-string bass like I need a hole in the head, but if I can get rid of a guitar and two of my 6-strings, I'm on this one.

Speaking of which, you wouldn't be interested in a trade, would you?

FunkMetalBass - PM'd.

i'm stuvk at this antique thing with the wife, but when i get home i'l remove the stickers and post new pics. thanks for all the helpful input everybody!

lol @ "at least you have good taste"...i KNOW...that and Cowboy Bebop are the only anime i can watch dubbed. i love the voice actor that does Spike/Mugen. you ROKK dooDaddy.

where are you at DooDaddy? i'n in the Bay Area in CA near Berkeley. it IS a nice bass...i just hate to see it jusr hang around in my (lol...VERY small) studio, unused.

basses are SO meant to be played, not looked at.
