Spector or Dean?

Hey there I'm a bassist from new zealand,and I'm looking at getting a new bass, I have seen an offer on a local auction site for either a Spector q5 (in blue, which I assume is either turquoise or deep blue) or a Dean Edge q4 in tiger eye forthe same price. Now aside from the extra string, what i need to know is which is the better make, because they pretty much have the same electronics, and body woods etc, just a little different in terms of shape (the dean reminds me of a tobey), and as far as 5 strings go are the spector's better in terms of string tightness on the B, I've owned several ibanez 5's and a cort curbow 5 and they were all pretty loose. Any help here would be much appreciated. cheers.

It's my understanding that these are essentially the same bass made in the same factory in Korea. So which finish do you want and do you want the extra string? Someone correct if I'm wrong tough guys. I've got a Dean q5 and its an awesome bass especially for the price.

Ive played Spectors for a while but, I have to say, the few Deans Ive played always surprise me. THey are smooth playing basses. Dean gets a bad rap because of their pointy basses. Ive got a Dean Z (explorer). Ive have to say for that price range, Deans got my vote.

Yeah I had an inkling these were made in pretty much the same factory, The problem came from the fact that other than warwick and fender's and the odd shecter n ibanez, nz is pretty much useless for finding good quality basses so when a deal like this pops up I figured to do some research first.. also I was already headingthe spector way but only because I have wanted one since I first started playing 12 years ago,but figured it might be like an original lamborghini contache.. nice to look at when yer a kid, but in reality pretty much a big hunk of plastic and fibreglass, and not very fun to drive either hehe.. cheers for the replies and i guess my next thread will be about how much my q5 pro kicks ass.. and when I'm going to upgrade to a euro4 DLX (yeah right, I wish)hehe

Oh, yeah does anyone know what kinda blue the q5 finish is?.. the only pics I have found off the net are of a turquoise, but I also know there is a darker kinda royal blue stain that was out for a while, also is the quilt detailed or kinda dull?.. meh.. all too confusing lol

My Edge Q6 is the last bass I think Ill ever own. Hands down.
