Spector or Ibanez

i own a spector legend 6 and have played a few sr6's...

I picked up the spector on a whim trade deal and have been very impressed with how solid the bass feels. Its not as light as the iby's i've played, but the bass feels like it can take a real beating.
I've seen some of the legends come with the emg hz's, and my experience with those has been less than positive. my legend has standard emgs and they sound marvelous.

I think there might be different models, but my legend has the concave back which is very comfortable to play. I think the string spacing is listed around 17mm, and feels comfortable. I remember not liking the sr6 as much because the fretboard felt crowded.

Low b on my spector is nice and tight, strung with DR highbeams light.

hope that helps. Have you had a chance to play either? Which do you prefer?

I've owned the SR506, and quite a few legends, though never the 6 string.

I think both would be great basses to be honest. The Ibanez probably has a more versatile tone, while the spector would have more mid-range punch. Spector would be a bit more comfortable body wise, while the Ibanez neck would probably be slightly better. Both are tough basses. The Ibanez if a newer model has a battery cover so you don't need tools to replace the battery - with a spector you do.

If I had to choose between the two I'd probably go with Spector just because ergonomically it's the best I've seen and that spector tone. But you can't really go wrong with either choice here. Price-wise the spector will probably cost a bit more. But if you need tone versatility and don't care so much about the mid-range, then Ibanez will be better for you as it's got the 3 band eq (unless you get a legend custom which also has the 3 band).

I own an Ibanez SR885 of which I'm happy. I've also read good reviews on the Spector Legend. I think you're getting a decent instrument if you choose either of the models you're considering.

Around the same price range/quality, you can also consider Schecter, Yamaha, and Carvin to name a few.

Ibanez never did anything for me - they always seemed like cookie-cutter junk and the tone was always "blah" and the look left a lot to be desired. Mostly subjective things I know but the Spectors to me were always "it". The look, the sound, the feel...just the total package as far as what I was looking for in a bass.
