Hi, I recently acquired a Euro 4 with P / J setup, I have a question regarding the height of the pickups. Should these be angled like a Fender Precision (side of the neck) with height equal string to pickup? They are now lying flat .
I appreciate any comments.
They should be set to whatever height and angle gives you the most even volume across all the strings. That will vary depending on what strings you use and how you have the bass set up--that's why the pickups are made to be adjustable.
pups lying flat or angled doesn't matter, you should check the distance between the pup and the strings... In general, there should be more distance on the thicker string's side to get an even output string to string...
