Spector ToneDump Ultimate - with samples

i wanna get big singles in spector euro lx 5 any suggestions??

I have custom-wound Big Singles/Aguilar OBP-3 setups in 3 of my 4 Spector ReBop DLX FM & EXs (and the fourth will be a NP5/DC5 as soon as I can finance it) and I absolutely love the tone, but realize that the ReBops are bolt-on basses and the mixture of the attack that comes from a bolt-on body, non-traditional Spector body woods of Alder & Maple or Zebrawood make for something akin to the tone of the great classic Spector tone & the tone of a high-quality Jazz Bass mixed together. They're also not exactly cheap - Nordstrand has to wind them to fit in their non-standard EMG-sized shells, so expect to pay a bit over standard cost and wait for the custom job.

...that said, I still think they'd go great for people who aren't fans of the smooth EMG tone, and even in a N/T Spector would bring a good deal of the "punch" of their single coil tone to a Spector that to my ears Active EMGs don't give.

I will list them here instead:

Bridge pickup - Neck pickup
--------------------------
SRS: series
PRL: parallel
SGL: single coil

(I just noticed that one combination is missing (series-parallel) but as I don't have the bass anymore I cannot rerecord it...)

Ian, any recordings that we can hear?

I actually moved right after getting all my Big Single/OBP-3SK//PPs installed (it was actually pretty close on the last Bass) and for a variety of reasons, mostly medical, I haven't gotten my recording setup back up yet. However I've been wanted to do some demoing projects so that's been pushed to the front-burner, and I'll posted here/The Spector Club & the Pickup/Preamp Forum once I have some samples to share.

I'll say this: it was the best $1500 I've spent gear-wise in my 20+ years of playing (4 sets - 4-string, 5-string fretted & fretless & 5-string "Spector American Deluxe Precision", a EMGed positive "Test Run" of their 40P5/40DC that was the setup of the pre-2010 Fender American Deluxe Precision Bass V , the only P-Bass I've liked the tone off to see if I could get that tone out of my Euro Bot-On Spector, which will be replaced by an EMG-shelled Nordy NP5/DC5 setup - of custom EMG-shelled & wound Nordstrand Big Singles, Aguilar OBP-3SK//PPs, the EMG 40P5/40DCs and professional wiring of all Basses @ 18V). My Spector Zebrawood-topped Euro Bolt-Ons 5-string fretted & fretless with the Nordstrand Big Singles & Aguilar OBP-3s are my two "Main Basses", the one's I'd have under each arm if the house were on fire. They're beasts... tameable beasts, but lordy can they roar. :help: :D

Edit: I also believe I have mad_hungarian's Spector Euro-LX5/ Seymour Duncan Bassline/Aguilar OBP-3 sound samples saved on an older PC. Give me a day or two and I sound be able to upload them, as they are also a killer pickup/preamp mod to choose from for players that want more versatility and non-EMG tone from an N/T Spector.
