Spectrum/Frequency Analyzer

I don't know much about plug ins or any recording software, but am trying to find a good spectrum/frequency analyzer for my bass and other recordings. I currently use Audacity to record tracks, and understand it can use some plug ins, but don't know if it can do visual ones like an analyzer.

Can someone point me in the direction of a decent analyzer, and how to use it?

I'm not sure what Audacity comes with but usually even a stock channel EQ plugin will include a frequency analyzer.

Thanks, that looks like what I need. I am clueless with plug in's though. I see I need a VST/AAX Host software to use it. What are those, and what is a good one to download?

Audacity would be the VST host. It's an old program so, if memory serves, it won't accept 64-bit plugins. Make sure the Blue Cat FreqAnalyst works in a 32-bit environment and then you should be able to instantiate it on a track in Audacity.

I've been using Blue Cat. Seems to work well. The big thing for me is that unless there is a unique problem, my ears are way more useful to me.
