Speculation: The New Tool Album Can't Be Good

I'm just saying:

That font looks like the Diablo font and Diablo came out in 1996. A Horadric staff! This may prove fitting. SO MUCH has happened in music and artistry in the intervening 14 years since 10,000 Days. So much. The cheap digital recording revolution has unnaturally evolved everything at light speed to the point where synthwave is now in vogue (the distant future of 1986!) and the sound of distorted guitars is considered baroque in many contemporary listening circles.

Disclaimer: I am a massive (but not diehard) Tool fan. I cut a lot of chops in high school learning the lines from Ænima and Lateralus. But that was high school, and I've been listening to some of the newer material they've been airing and I'm just not convinced this can be anything else but another Chinese Democracy situation:

Hope not but :sour:

Or....maybe they couldn't give a flying monkey about synthesizers, whose's using them, fads, and so on, and they remain who they are. I never expected any dance remixes out of them.

Can you elaborate on why (genuinely curious - I feel the same way. Really didn't vibe 10,000 Days)?

I just feel like they've reached their conclusion, musically. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not terribly optimistic, based on what I've heard so far. I like 10,000 days, but I really felt it was Lateralus: Part Deux. I'm in no rush to hear Part Trois.

Also, Blade Runner is awesome and I just watched it for - maybe, ironically - the 10,000th time.

At the risk of derailing your thread, Blade Runner is my favourite film... I haven't watched it quite that many times, but there is a theatre in town that runs it regularly, so I do get to see it on the big screen at least once or twice a year, and that is a treat.
