Split Pickups

Hey guys, I am playing an Ibanez SR506 and am wanting to create an output per pickup kind of like the Billy Sheehan/Rico sound thing. If I am looking for a pickup for the neck to be bass-ier and my bridge to be for more of an over-driven sound, what kind of pickups do I want? I want something that is going to be able to give me the right sound in my prog metal band, but something that will give me a jazz tone if I want it. I have the MK-1s in my SR506, it is a 2009 version. Any help is much appreciated.

buy a cheap guitar amp and a splitter.....no new pickups or mods to your bass. I have a 6 inch splitter connecting to an old Fender tube guitar amp, and a new solid state bass amp. Bass amp takes care of the lows while being nice and clean, and the guitar amp gets a bit of fuzz for the high end. Very cool sounds

that's cool.
coundn't you just use the FX send from the bass amp to the input of the guitar amp as well?

That is what I am doing now. Running Hartke LH1000 and a Crate Blue Voodoo 120

It sounds good, just doesn't fill the mix like I am wanting to. Maybe I need to EQ a little better.
