Deal with reputable businesses that know and do their part & be a reputable business and do your part and you should succeed. Buying into the "oh the poor poor venue owner has no way to advertise his business in a cost effective manner" is just hog wash in my experience.

FWIW, I do truly feel that this weekends venue is trying to do these things right, which is why we like working with them. Other places we have and are booked to play, eh.

I agree that time is money but if somebody offers to do something they cannot turn around and charge for it; If they knew they had to pay the other party might not have agreed to it.

I can see this.

Pretty much applies to any situation, band/non-band.

IME/IMO, remember this for your relationships, day job and other social/business situations.

To follow up: We had a nice show, the bands all played well, made some good friends. The take was $210, split 3 ways. Yay original music

Now we just need to figure out how to get more people out. Its like pulling teeth!!!
