Double Bass "squeeks" causes

Two things no one has mentioned are perpendicularity and maintaining a single spot on the string. Allowing too much angle (less than 90°) between the hair and the string, as well as allowing the hair to skate up or down the string during the stroke can both lead to squeaking. Practice in front of a mirror and make sure you aren't doing these things.
