Squier Affinity Bass

I can't speak to the neck, but I am in the process of building a parts bass with a body that is identical to yours. Mine came from a parted-out 80's Mako Precision copy, same color. It had no pickguard originally. Does yours have an access to the control cavity on the back?

I'll have to check it when I get home from work, but I don't think so. Do you know what wood the body is made from?

I just checked and there is no access panel on the back. The pickguard that I got on Ebay looks like it won't fit as I had hoped. It is too small on the piece that surrounds the knobs.
