Squier Classic Vibe (2019) Tuners

Hi, I have a marvellous CV '60 Jazz Bass (indonesia 2023)... It is marvellous, it sounds amazing.
The only upgrade I made are 3 CTS pots and rewiring... good improvement from bad pots.
The only bad thing: tuner machines!!! :rollno:

I've read a lot of threads but honestly I would like to be sure before buying any new tuning machines set. I do not want to drill new holes.
Is there any of you that have already replace tuners withou drilling new holes? Are Schaller BM a direct drop-in solution? (https://schaller.info/media/ec/a0/60/1730113515/1025.jpg)

Thanks a lot to any of you that helps me. :D

I'm surprised your tuners need replacing. I've owned several CV-series Squiers and the tuners were never a problem. In fact, the tuners in my Precision are very nice and smooth... they probably weigh a ton :roflmao: so I can see an argument for replacing with lighter ones (which usually involves drilling new holes and leaving old holes visible) but I don't expect any of the usual same-look replacements would be much of an improvement, if at all.

That link has all the measurements, how do they compare to the ones on your bass?

One thing in particular to watch out for is the diameter of the tuner post and the bushings they pass through, and the diameter of the hole on the headstock.
If the hole on your headstock is narrower than what the tuner needs, that makes it complicated because you'll have to widen up the holes on the headstock. For that reason, if in doubt I just buy the narrower version: you can pad the narrow bushing with masking tape until it reaches the thickness it needs. Once screwed down it's solid.

It’s difficult to give you good advice without knowing the specifics. Pics and measurements of the tuners of your bass, similar to the ones you’ve posted in the the link would help.

That said, the tuners on the current crop of CV’s are fairly standard for basses at this price point, regardless of manufacturer. I’ve had several basses with these tuners, and I’ve never had a problem with them, as they turn smoothly, and stay in tune.

Unfortunately, if you do want to swap them out, there are few, if any, drop in replacements for these tuners. This means that you will probably have to drill new holes whatever you do. On the plus side, this widens your choice of replacement tuners significantly, as you will then only have to consider the post diameter.

Can't agree more, those tuning machine on current day Indo CV quite suck, unlike early day China CV bass which has great machine head.

I bought few set of China CV machine head several years ago, been replace on the few Indo CV bass i been own , and also install on my 3 bacchus bass .
