Seems to me like part of the argument here lies in the "price to expectation ratio". When I buy a Squier/Rogue/entry level Ibanez or Yamaha, I'm not expecting it to be at the quality level of fit/finish/setup/refinement/components as a USA Fender/EBMM/Kiesel/high end Yamaha or Ibanez etc. Why do I feel that way? Because I'm simply not paying for the same level. There SHOULD be tangible and measurable differences across price points, IMO. However, in this day and age with modern assembly processes and CNC, that gap has shrunk compared to inexpensive instruments of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and probably the 90s. I don't expect perfection at entry level price points. I am thankful and pleasantly surprised when an instrument exceeds my expectations, even if a little TLC and DIY work is needed to get it where I like. Different strokes for different folks, right? 

Those USD 299 CIC Squier CV (2008-2018) line always impress TB member with their QC.
We were spoiled by the price and quality.

Less risk of damage? If a bass/neck/trussrod breaks during shipping because it was tightening, well I have bad news for the lifetime of that instrument/neck/trussrod.

If maybe your strings were detuned, maybe it is because the bass was shipped with strings tuned but no trussrod and your brand new neck arrived twisted already, so the strings lost tension?

That's fine with me. We're all entitled to our own opinions, just not our own facts is all. Your hypothesis about a broken truss rod as stated is untrue. The truss rod in my bass works fine and did from the moment it arrived. The neck is in perfect adjustment now that I've set it up to my own preferences. The action is quite low.

I've actually been shipped a bass that did arrive with a truss rod issue but not this one and not because it was shipped with the strings slightly detuned and the truss rod in need of an adjustment. I'd actually prefer any stringed instrument I buy to be shipped that way. IMHO it lessens the chance of damage not increases it.

If you're not happy that I accepted my bass arriving in that state all I can respond with is it was MY bass not YOUR bass and I have no issues with Fender because of it. If yours arrived that same way and you do have issues with that please address them with Fender. I can't help you but maybe they will. Over and out.

New parts day for my fiesta red 60's precision!!! Bare Knuckle 65 P pickup, Obsidian True Vintage 58 wire harness with .1uf cap, and a much better looking tortoise pickguard.

Zoom in and look at the difference… the stock looks like "brown with confetti". It's also 3 ply rather than 4 ply.

The pickup I replaced was actually a Fender American Standard (pre-2012) pickup. I don't have the stock pickup. The new one is vintage spec. Has a lot more character in the mids. The Fender Am Std was very scooped in the mids.

Very cool! I have three Pbasses, one with a pickup with mids (AlNiCo V, 10.5kOhm), one with a pickup scooped (Ceramic, 6kOhm), and i'm getting a Pure Vintage 63 (AlNiCo V, 12.5kOhm) for my third, which gives lots of lows and singing mids. So I probably have all the sounds

Clever wiring harness and a great looking PBass. I always see those as a Pino Palladino special.

Last two mods on my to-do list are Hipshot HB1 tuners, and replacing the high-mass bridge with a vintage style bent plate and threaded saddles. For those of you that have been around the CV block for 10 years or more, you know that the bridge screw hole pattern for the first gen CV's is not standard. I'll have to plug the holes with dowels and then re drill for the standard Fender bridge. It will only cast me about $40 as I already have a bridge in my parts bin… but I worried that the outer dowels might be visible under the smaller bridge. Any insight or experience from any of the OG Classic Vibers?

This is the first I've ever heard of them and I am intrigued. It's like Roscoe Beck and James Johnston collaborated on an inexpensive signature bass.

Their sunburst model looks pretty damn fine, too!

Never installed a traditional bent plate on any of the three I've owned but I have installed Babicz FCH Bridges on all three and they were an exact fit. Do the vintage type only have 4 mounting screws?

I only able found this few image from my pc ....

I plug all holes except center one. Once re drill done, you will find that the Fender vintage bridge plate just enough cover the both previous edge hole nicely.

Off topic.

The earlier Vintage bridge has different material on saddle compare to current one you can get from guitar store. Earlier saddle has dull grey in colour meanwhile the current one just like shiny zinc stuff.

The stock image has nice wood grain and nice burst gradient from center to edge. But the one i found just something like this....... Solid sunburst without transparent wood grain...

The red one with Ash body, but the neck are off align ...

Well, when it's $400 USD from an obscure manufacturer, I suppose beggars can't be choosers. One thing for sure, I doubt I'll ever get to sample a Soloking to judge for myself, short of ordering my own. (...which isn't happening. I already have a great Sunburst Jazz, so I'm good on that front. )

So I'm curious as to hearing some opinions from folks who have some hands on experience with the new issue China built 60's CVP's. I know there have been some remarks sprinkled around here recently but trying to focus in a bit more on this specific model. I think I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on one just wanting to get some input before I jump. Appreciate anything anyone has to share, thanks.
