Steel wool will burnish the finish and it can look good (it often doesn't), it will usually end up looking like the finish was, well, "knocked down" with steel wool, I would shoot it with satin poly, of course going this way is lot more work.

Yep the CIC Classic Vibes are bangers! Solid players I have a couple, I've said it before, I have never held a bad one. :thumbsup:

Question for the group - my Squier has developed a staticky buzz when touching the strings. Not super loud, but definitely loud enough to be annoying. Not sure how long it's been there, but I'm wondering if it could be some kind of ground issue? My other basses are quiet when plugged into the same amps, so I'm sure it's not that. Only real mod is a Hipshot bridge. That sound like a bad ground somewhere?

Be sure you have your bridge ground connected to a control pot housing

If the solder connection is intact, check to see if the bridge ground wire got pushed into the body when you installed the Hipshot. When I install a bridge, I'll usually affix the wire to the underside with a small piece of white artist's tape to ensure proper contact.

I changed the pickguard just for fun, white at first(it looks great), and finally opted for tortoise. Still testing the original pickups(with originals strings), not bad but not great... I'm not shure if I must change the pups for a Geezer set I have, maybe I should try another set of strings (flats or pressurewounds) first to decide.

I have the same bass that I changed out the neck for rosewood, I actually dig the fender 7250's on this bass but agree that pickups are good not great, I have other basses I can grab when need more balls.

The Geezer's are what I would go with if I were to change 'em, I say go for it…:thumbsup:

You might want to try GHS black tapewounds...there must be a reason I have them on seven basses.

Does the Limited Edition Late 50s Precision Bass represents a good value at the sale price? Invalid Link Removed

I am familiar with the quality of the 40th Anniversary basses, owning one, and they are also on sale, 80 dollars more or so. Because I have a nice late 50s Fender Vintera P, I honestly do not need either bass, but the sale price is tempting, especially if not much needs be changed. I do not have a CV bass, but the specs of the 40th Anniversary basses aren't that different. The white blonde color is super nice! Though I have heard complaints about this particular model's QC.

The Squier Sonic Bronco I acquired last month is great quality, and I honestly do not want worse for a higher price! Any experiences with this "late 50s" p bass are welcome. Its poplar body does not bother me too much.

When she been special run model only available on Chicago music, sure she has nice collector value. Just like previous Guitar Center's FSR CIC CV70P Sea foam green.

The late 50s P currently available all around the world and there are few negative report on net.

CIC classic vibe still has solid second hand value, especially signature model MF P and JJ jazz bass with stock condition.

You already have a Fender Vintera, so I suppose the real questions is; "How much sway does FOMO have over your life?" Is $300 or less worth taking a bit of risk and possible hassle over?

Hi there, can I join the club? About two weeks ago I picked up the most...affordable...tool in my sonic tool chest in this near-mint 2020 Squier Classic Vibe '50s Precision Bass (please forgive the horrible lighting). I was looking for that old-school primitive single coil growl for a couple of tracks I'm working on without breaking the bank, and this thing has it in spades. I gave it a full setup and added Dunlop Straploks - and although I'm pretty happy with it as is, a set of Hipshot HB3s and La Bella flats in 45-105 will get it right where it needs to be. These CV Squiers punch far above their price tag, and I love it.

I have a white blonde one and it's a great bass. Worth it at regular price and that's a hell of a deal.
