So, I recently picked up a CV Precision in Fiesta Red. I swapped out the high-mass bridge for a vintage style, added a bridge cover, and have it strung up with LaBella flats.
I was considering swapping out the pickups, pots, and jack. Not anymore. After checking out a YouTube video someone posted of my band, I'm definitely keeping them stock since I LOVE the way this bass sounds in the mix. Honestly, I'm surprised how good it sounds in the video considering how unhappy I was with the tone while playing it that night. Just goes to show that what you hear on stage isn't necessarily what the audience hears out in the house. And the stock tuners are staying, too. I see no need to swap them out when they keep the bass in tune all night on a 3+ hour gig.
Anyway, this bass will definitely be stealing gigs from my '86 Ricky 4003 that's been my main player for the last 3 years.
Please excuse the crappy iPhone pic taken in my garbage dump of a bedroom. Oh, and that scarf was given to me by Paul Westerberg.

Nice scarf! Westerberg has been a hero of mine since the early 80's. When I was 16 years old, I knocked on the back door of the local club where the Replacements were playing that night and asked to talk to Paul - he came to the door and I handed him my demo tape (how embarassing). He invited us into the dressing room, offered us a cold Rhinelander Beer and asked if we were coming to the show. We said "Nope, we're underage, can't get in here". Paul said "F--- that, come on..." and led us right out the stage door, around the amps and drums and said "Have a great time guys". Ya shoulda seen the looks on the faces of all of our older friends who were already there and waiting for the show to begin. Good times... good times.

I own a Matt Freeman sig, which has identical specs to the CV 60's P-Bass, but with a different fretboard and finish of course. May I join?

I have a CV P in Fiesta Red on the way and I am beyond excited. The reviews on these things are amazing, to say the least.
I have a couple of questions for you all.
1. I plan on sanding some of the 'shine' off the back of the neck. However, the bodies on these look very shiny as well. Has anyone had experience with LIGHTLY sanding the finish gloss from the body?
2. I don't plan on changing anything on mine right off the bat, but as someone who is pretty green to electronics, is it tough? I was thinking maybe only replacing the pots and jack.
3. Can I have a number (when my bass arrives and I upload pics)?

Not much activity going on in here lately but does anyone have a CV Jazz with a allparts pickguard on it? I am really wanting to get a black allparts jazz guard as I dont like the photo tort but I am just wondering if it will be a direct fit, there both 10 hole guards.
You know, mine is a P but a standard fender guard fit like a glove. Screws and all. I got a pearl Chinese guard off eBay and it's sweet. Les than $10 to my door!

I bought that exact guard because of you haha. I ended up selling off my sonic blue 60s P so I dont have the guard anymore but it was a good one for the price.
If anyone wants to swap there Matt Freeman or Chris Atkin neck for a Squier 60s J neck in perfect shape, let me know! I much prefer a P neck and a maple board would be cool with the 70s look I am going for.

I purchased the same guard, it's a little skimpy on shielding (easy to add before installation), but a perfect fit and looks great on my sonic blue CV P.
