It's a shame really, I much preferred that Aztec Gold color over that awful (IMO) Fiesta Red. A nice black PG to replace the tort (not a fan of that either) , and I would have seriously considered buying one.

Got a 60's Jazz in Inca Silver from Sweetwater not too long ago. I'm floored by how nice it is. Feels great and sounds amazing. And (much to my surprise since I'm a natural/sunburst sort of guy) I actually like the color. A lot. Everybody I've had try it is also amazed. I don't know if it's typical, but this was a real good buy for me. It arrived needing zero adjustments out of the box. It was almost perfectly in tune as well. Now how does that happen?
I was originally intending to mod it with a set of CS 60's JB pups and possibly an old style 60s dual tone control set once I received it. But at this point, I like it just the way it is so much that all I'll probably do is put a better set of strings on it (either GHS Pressure wounds or DR Pure Blues - I haven't decided yet) and call it a day.
Anyway, I'd highly recommend getting one of these if you like the Jazz bass sound. First, because it sounds like my "real" Jazz bass. And second, because it costs about $1000 less on average than an F-model. To my mind it's perfect backup for road use - or even as your main road instrument. I haven't recorded with it yet, so I'll have to wait and see how well it does with that. If it works out equally well in the studio, I'd even be willing to go so far as to recommend it as your main instrument. Period. (Yes. It's that good.)
If you're going mail order like I did I'd also recommend Sweetwater. Great service, free shipping, and they don't assess your state's sales tax. At least not yet. They also have a very liberal return policy if you're not happy for any reason. And they put a two-year warranty on what they sell. Which means you have a minimum two years worth of coverage no matter what the manufacturer is offering. Good people. Highly recommended. (Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Sweetwater (or anybody else for that matter) in any way, shape or form. I'm just a very satisfied customer.)
FWIW I also decided to get one of those Squire CV 50's Butterscotch Blond Telecasters because I was so impressed with that JB. And I'm happy to say I'm equally impressed with that plank as well. Has that classic tele twang nothing else delivers. And enough spank to satisfy even Mistress Wanda von Dunajew. Well worth the money spent.

I just got a new-to-me CV 50's P and am VERY impressed. All in all, it is not built to the same standards as the rest of my basses (Ken Lawrence, Lakland, Roscoe, Regenerate) but I did not expect it to be. GREAT P-bass sound, nice chunky neck, BEAUTIFUL (lake placid blue) finish and a really nice balance - I got FAR more than my money's worth!!!
I'm thinking about getting a 60's Jazz...

I could be wrong, but I believe it, along with a black CV-J, were only being sold in Europe. And even then, I think it was a very limited run.
EDIT: Me personally, I was considering grabbing a black CV-J, a CV-P's pickup and turning it into a one-of-a-kind "Classic Vibe P/J Jazz Bass". Ah well…thwarted again by Unknown Forces of the Business-verse.

That is weird! I bought mine from Guitar Center about a month ago, straight from the warehouse...took it home, put a set of GHS flatwounds on it, and only had to do the slightest adjustment for intonation. Mine was in tune and properly set up, too.
Really interested in a Classic Vibe P with a modern C neck. Would that be the 70's P, or Chris Aiken model?

Fuggedahboutit, stick with the classic vibe, I have the same exact one in fiesta red, imo it's better than any MIM I've owned or played, I think you'll be blown away by how much bang for the buck they are. Mine wants for nothing, including the pickup.
Dont tell anyone, I sold my Am Std J and kept the CVJ!
One of my favorite basses ever! I got the sonic blue, and even though I added a an EMG Geezer Butler pickup
the stock pup was fine. In fact I left it setup in the pickguard and bought a mint green guard and a pickup cover.
You won't regret it. extraordinarily well put together bass.
Sold my fiesta red CV 60's P, too salmon pink in color, and the sonic blue one , too heavy. Picked up a rare White one today. Came with the gloss neck finish sanded smooth, strap locks and a Fender Custom Shop60's Pickup. I changed out the black pick guard for a aged pearl . This one is the lightest weight of the bunch. This one sounds , looks and plays the best. 3rd time is a charm. I really love these basses.
When I saw this white one listed, I ordered it and compared it to my newly purchased MIJ 70s classic series Precision. No contest for me, The Squier won me over at first note. Retuned the MIJ Precision , bought the CV, and left with money in my pocket.

I'm gonna back up what another user said a few pages back. I've had my Squier Matt Freeman for a couple years now. I've been playing bass for 11 years and it is by far the best bass I've ever played. My MF is the gold standard by which I judge all other bass guitars. It came set up with super low action, it sounds great with flats or rounds, does every sound I could want it to. Honestly it's so good that it's the sole reason I haven't pulled the trigger on an American Standard P or J.
With that being said, I will have a brand new Road Worn Jazz coming in tomorrow. We'll see how it compares to my Matt Freeman.

That Jazz might steal your heart but it's a different animal. The one I tried was amazing (you won't regret buying that) as was the RW P. Ended up with a MIM Classic 50s P; also amazing, very close to the RW P but no nitro. Have not tried the MF, would love to; by all accounts, awesome.
Anyone encounter the Eva Gardner Precision bass yet? They seem to run out of stock quickly on these. All of the videos on them sound great. I think they are considered CV's like the Matt Freeman.
Follow up. Received the bass. Really enjoy it. Great build quality. Frankly, I just added some fender original pickups and LaBella (jamerson set). Played it through a fender rumble 100 at GC. Also played a fender Mia precision. I actually prefer the Squier. Maybe the fact that I am all in for $350 v $1350 has something to do with it, but I like the feel better. Might just scotchbrite the neck a bit.

I was thinking about putting Lace Sensor Man O' War pickups and Madison's Ultimate Passive Jazz control plate in mine...I already bought them-$250...but just haven't gotten around to it.
