Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 3)

question for you guys:

Did you play these basses in store or order them off the internet? I've been in the market for a P-bass and have been considering the CV or matt freeman. I've heard they are great players but I'm weary of buying one new if I havent played it. I haven't seen squier P basses coming up a lot in the classifieds here.

I ordered my CV Jazz at Guitar Center (never saw an Inca Silver model in any store) because I knew they'd take it back no questions asked had it not been 100% to my liking. I once kept a bass for 30 days and they still took it back.
People can say what they want about Guitar Center, but their return policy is great.

I put some flatwounds on my bass and only had to do the slightest adjustment.
Since when do basses from the GC warehouse come set up?

The MF is a fantastic bass definitely worth owning

In for a second time, got it used. Played it for my wife, could not tell the difference between it and the Am Std

I hate the factory pg but that's an easy fix

I own CV 60P and have play MF at GC.
The neck feeling is different than 60P, for my small hand, feel little thicker than 60P.
The MF's Fret size is between vintage and medium jumbo.
The maple fretboard make MF sound more attack and spark.

I love the look of maple fretboard BUT love the sound of rosewood fretboard.

I recommand you try both at GC, if not, just buy both online, play and choose the favorite one and sell the another one.

I have a Freeman body coming for a neck i am finishing up now

Hi guys, I don't own a Squier CV nor am I here to troll. Just want to tell you about my own experiences with these beauties!

I've had good and bad experiences with them. Never owned one myself but the ones I did play were often very very good.

I tried out the CV Jazz in white/tort and it sounded amazing. Only thing I'd want is a maple fretboard neck; can't beat that combo!! I tried out multiple models in different stores. Some sounded too honky, some sounded too thin, some sounded too fat! I found one in my price range and it had good sound and tone but I had bought an MIM just days ago off Craigslist so I was really saddened. And I wasn't really looking for a Jazz at that time.

I have not tried out the Precision models yet but the 50s model with the Tele body/headstock and single coil pickup looks very attractive. Beats having to buy a $3000 Custom Shop model or what have you. I've heard some demos on Youtube by both rock-solid bassists and amateur bassists. It really doesn't matter if it's a Fender or Squier. Truth be told; I've heard some amazing musicians make beautiful modern music (heh anyone got that reference?) with Squiers of all ranges.

You guys are lucky people! Saved yourselves a ton of money but you got more than your money's worth, honestly.

I love the look of the Matt Freeman model. The Eva Gardner bass looks amazing too!

My local GC din't bring in Eva & CV 50P. I love the butter CV 50P, but don't know how it sound.

Before i bought CV 60P, i have try CV Jazz. Compare both , CV jazz sound blank and weight more. Maybe i will get CV jazz next, before i change the pup, i MUST change the stock bridge to Fender Vintage Bridge first. The swap of bridge make my CV 60p voice different, overall tone thicker and warmer.

I find it really hard to believe that the sound and tone can change drastically between a 60s spacing and a 70s spacing Jazz Bass. Honestly. Like how much difference can a small movement of the bridge pickup make?

Yeah, they don't all sound the same, for better or worse. This is my 2nd Jazz in the CV line. The first sounded much thinner. This one has that huge center punch sound like a CS60 pup.

I also have the p tele (got both used). The tele surprised me, it has a nice clean mid-forward bark you would expect from a SCP pickup.

Welcome to the CV world M.P.! Hopefully you find one you like before you leave on your journey

I just pulled the trigger on a Squier Classic Vibe 60s Precision Bass in Fiesta Red. I won't get it for another week as the seller is traveling and that delay is giving me a bit of buyer's remorse...thinking I should have bought a used MIM(w/upgraded pickups) or MIA P. I figured that this might be the place to be reassured.
I own a 2008 MIM Fender Jazz Bass (FSR Natural Finish) w/ Fender Custom Shop 60s Pickups. I love that bass and that will always be my baby, but I have always wanted to add something a bit more of that warmer mellower R&B P-Bass sound.
How does the CV 60s P stack up?
