Yah I like the look of the res-o-lites. Apparently Hipshot HB1s are drop in replacements for the Squier type tuners. They offer a little weight reduction and a higher tuning ratio.
Might be my best option.

Yeah I have the drop d hb1 on my MF. Screws right in.

Why the gbr? The r means reverse. The gb640 are normal wind tuners. I have them on a parts jazz and like them a lot.

So I've rethought my plans for my Freeman P. Just leave it as is. The slight weight issue isn't worth messing with it I think.

Also, I've a question for those of you who have experience with both the 60s and 70s P, would you say the differences is only the fretboard? Thinking of adding another CV P and I've found a mint 60s(silver) on Reverb but with shipping it's almost at the cost of a new 70s(before tax). How would people compare the current 70s to the discontinued 60s.

That's a wise decision that you will not regret. I've modded mine with different pickups and it really changed the experience of the bass. Sometimes it's better to leave things the way they are and just enjoy it as it is PS. I sold mine, don't do it

I put Geezers in my Freeman. Sounded good before though I prefer it a bit more now.

Here's mine. I've since replaced the stock pups with GZR's.

Fit and finish is just as nice as any bass I've had. Zero flaws.

Only bummer is, for whatever reason, this color doesn't come with the high mass bridge like all the other CV's.

I am not a stock brass saddle himass bridge lover, all the CV bass I own previously and my current CV 60P are all swap with Fender Vintage Threatsaddle bridge.

Beside the stock himass bridge produce less organic bass tone(to my ears), the thick plate limit my low action setup prefer and she weight twice than fender vintage bridge.

Thanks! That's good to hear. I had a similar issue with a Gotoh bridge on another bass so maybe this is a good thing.

To me it never made sense the CV line had those hm bridges.., seems the V MODIFIED line should have a mod bridge, and a CLASSIC V have the CLASSIC vintage threaded.

Still they are super instruments.

Nice grain on the body. Mine isn’t that nice but it’s a great sounding bass. The single coil hums a bit and p’s the soundman off: even though it’s not noticable in the mix.

I feel the same way. I had to put a shim to get the action to where I like it without having the saddles all the way to the deck. The plate and the saddles are thicker.

2009 Classic Vibe 60's Jazz. Picked it up a week or so ago, 100% stock, strung with Fender flats. Great bass.

I got a '11 Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass with me and today I just redid my original 60s bridge pickup cavity grounding inspired work on it, using... folded aluminium foil. Totally buzzless when untouching the strings. Here you go (sorry for the finger tips on the control plate!) :

I'm planning to replace the pickguard because it doesn't look "tortoise shell" to me but rather "brown marble texture"... anyway! Did someone replaced it on his/her own Squier CV 60s JB? Any size issues or perfect fit? Thanks!

Yeah, it's not an authentic looking tort, but mine (in theist above yours) has grown on me, and I kind of like the idea of leaving this thing 100% stock for whatever reason. Looks more like plastic pepperoni.

Very nice!!! Now I don’t have a 60’s CV, I have the 50’s CV, but I DID happen to order and install a replacement PG. It fits like a glove!! Perfect replacement. The seller is on Reverb. They can make almost any PG.

I wanted to keep it stock but I was like... ok the pickguard is a simple modification and it doesn't require to removed strings and such, and I'd keep it apart. I don't plan to sell that bass at all, too. I'm already keeping the stock pickups and pots!

So if anybody made a positive attempt and replacing these, please tell me!

Also, I didn't browse the whole 53 pages, but does anybody have photos of the FSR Classic Vibe Precision Bass in "bronze/chocolate" colour? I'd be happy to see it!! <3
