I remember that he has a affinity p body married with china CV 60P's neck, and he proudly to own a "Pre-CV 60P" himself.....
Update on my 3 CV50P.
This one has better tuning machines than previous one (same Indo CV50P) , smoother fret edge, better assembly on pickup placement (crooked on previous Indo cv50P), tight neck pocket and weight 4.04kg ( previous one weight around 4.2kg).
Now the same issue on Samick QC, uneven fret wire height. She still has 3 notable high fret located on 9th, 11th and 13th fret. Problem solve with few gently hammer hit . Luckily not low fret......
This bass has thick poly paint inside the neck pocket. Spend an hour to clean it out with sand paper.
Another issue are nut slot cut tooooo low. Press down each string on 3rd fret to check the clearance between fret wire and bottom of string, E string has no room at all, meanwhile those ADG just has tiny room than usual.
Current Indo CV bass , both from Samick and Cortex ( more worst ) factory still unable match the build quality to discontinue China made CV bass which absolutely flawless ! Only the current china made Paranormal 54 J able get close.
The reason I revisit the Indo CV50P just because I have a Lindy Fralin 51 Split P pup in my drawer...... And this pickups just sound nice and hum free !!!!

The Chinese CVs really were something special. I wish I had picked up an older P when I had the chance!
I have a low fret. Solved with clear Scotch Crystal tape ln 10th fret G string. 0.51mm thick.
Did you put that over the top of the fret, or somehow sneak it in underneath? Seems like an interesting solution
There's a couple for sale out there right now (the Fiesta Red one) - it's just a matter of if you want to pay the going price.
Yes - part of the charm of the Squiers is getting an inexpensive bass that plays as good as anything - but by the time you add up what the upgrade costs would be (and assuming you would do those upgrades anyway) buying an upgraded one can still be a pretty good deal.
I got a 2010 Fiesta Red for a reasonable price in September. It lives up to the hype.
I updated the pickguard, pickups, harness, and bridge - and it's as good as it gets. (all stuff I had "in stock" though) At the end of the day, I'd have in it the same as what an upgraded one goes for...

Yep. Saw that one too. When you include the upgrades it’s still a good deal, but I’m still in the mindset that these CVs are only $300 instruments - even though the new prices have been higher for almost a year. Old habits die hard, am I right?

I was fortunate to pick up the CIC Oly White CV 60s Jazz early March of 2020 for that price- right before demand really kicked in, and prices responded accordingly.
I think those days may be gone for good...
I wouldn’t hesitate to pay $500 for a stock one. Especially taking into account inflation. They are that good, regardless of where they were built.

No experience on previous China CV bass, but did few time on previous Indo VM bass.
The nut on VM bass has more plastic feel than this , include the china CV bass nut . This one look more hybrid-bone-thing than both.
Once remove, surprisingly the found the truss rod wood slot appear and has shave signed from factory. Never happened on VM bass before which truss rod wood are hidden well.

About the pickups swap, the Lindy Fralin Split 51P pup are NOT DIRECT drop-in !
The bottom bobbin are larger than stock pup, but the screws mounting hole are correct. Spend some time/work to shave and trim the bottom bobbin...... then problem solve.
Now i meet the uneven output issue ! 9.5 fretboard radius Vs 7.5 radius stag magnet
The A string just sound overly loud .
Compare to the stock pup which has flush magnet pole pieces, once both E and G string has equal output after pickups height adjust , the A string just sound notable weak . That's why i raise the A and D magnet pole piece on my both previous china and indo CV50P in past (been share few years ago....).
To make the Lindy Split 51s P pup has even output, the small hammer and a piece of steel rod did the job well on both A and D magnet pole pieces. So far i never meet any risk or damage on my DIY raise pickups alnico V magnet pole pieces, even the Sub Ray5 Ceramic pickups.
Happy with the final result.

Pickups sound update on CV50P
Once i strung the fresh EB 2814 cobalt flatwound on CV50P, i try compare both stock and Fralin Split 51P tone (with .1uf cap).
This cobalt flat just open up the boomy/blury stock pup voice. Even the Low end and MID voice become solid , but the G string voice still lacking the fullness i looking for. Swap with the Fralin pup, the most notable change are more output(not hot) and solid-fuller sound from E to G !!! The Cobalt flat also create some angry tone and bite without dig-in too much while play between neck/pickups area along with tone pot wide open.
But i prefer dial back tone pot around -30% for smoother, sweeter and a bit laid back P vibe.
