Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass 70s vs 60s

I’d like an opinion on this as these are options for my next bass and some information on the difference in sound would be great. I also think maple necks are smoother (Am I correct?) as I tried out a P with flatwounds to see what flats felt like (I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the flats that made it smoother), so information on that and the sound would be really good. Or is the difference in sound small for a beginner like me? It’d be great to have some opinions from more experienced TBers who have used these. I also left a poll so I can get an idea of the general concensus.

Well? Did you buy one? I was going to get a 60s but changed my mind and going for 70s.

I prefer precision basses, so 60s jazz would probably be closer to this. However I would prefer the look of the Squier 70s jazz bass, maple necks, block inlays, natural wood/sunburst body, although black is nice too.

Everyone has their favorites.
I simply listened to the opinions, tried the two out for myself, and chose which worked best.

This is a pretty old thread but,I will jump in with ya.Precision over Jazz guy here alsoI have 4.5 and 3/4 Ps and a CV 70s J.pile lol the neck is on a P.Ive not played a 60s CV.Theu look awesome What do you like about them?

I don’t have a jazz bass, never did (but will soon by god) just tried them here and there and in stores. Not sure if I could even tell the sound apart. But from what I can see and read, the pickups are more towards the neck in the 60s designs, the precision bass also, which could be expected to give a rounder fuller warmer tone.
