c'thulu,

yeah, you did, but I think it may have actually helped. If it is half the bass of the Steve Harris at the squier price, its worth twice as much. Fender is just a little too proud of their sig stuff to justify the $$.

Yep, my first jazz was MIM I got barely used for 200 bucks. Buddy had a MIM strat that cost him about 300. But unless I am mistaken, last American Music Supply catalogue I got had the P at over 6.

I am gassing for the Steve Harris sig also. But I can not justify that purchase just because I am a fanboy. :)

I do got myself a Tony Franklin signature.
Not because Tony Frankin is a big influence, but because that was the best fretless I ever played so far.

I'm also having my first custom boutique fretless made.

some of their sigs are amazing, but the steve kind of bothers me. At the end of the day its a MIM p bass. Some of those sigs are wicked tricked out, but that one isnt. Sweet, but I'll be giving the squier or used MIM market a look long before I toss up that kind of bread.

With a Highway one you're halfway there. Just thick flatwound strings.
And maybe a quarterpounder.

im not a disciplined player but ive seen the some of the best players ever playing a bass some people would consider junk ...and he just made it sing like a mother....i prefer to have some hi end/expensive equipment and then some not so expensive fav equipment!

I prefer the CV line to the MIM, with the exception of the road worn series.
My CV 60s Jazz is modded with '51 reverse vintage tuners and custom shop 60s jazz pickups... the thing has a better than average neck too *was a lucky lucky find* that smokes all MIMs I've played so far. xD

No one even gets the jist of my avatar and the saying under it.. Im looking for a replacement. Maybe Ill make it Barney or something to make people feel happy and quit taking my posts in the wrong way.

I actually prefer CIJ or MIJ Fenders over MiM and Squiers, as my Geddy is CIJ.

But thanks C, I try to leave a good mark on TB. I only go with the fun when everyone else is.
I spent all saturday (Yesterday) at the studio laying down my band's new song and I brought in a CIJ Geddy Lee I had borrowed from a friend. The studio had a MIM P-bass and the audio engineer, my drummer and I all preferred the MIM over the CIJ. I bet that one was a lucky finding and I might have to search quite a lot to find another MIM that plays, sounds and feels like that one, but I really dug the MIM to what I had expected (Prtly due to all the posts I had read here on TB :hiding:)
