Squier Classic Vibe Series,on website

Went to GC the other day (ewww...) and played a CV Jazz. It is the best feeling bass I've ever played and I think I'm going to have to buy one. Truly amazing. I'm gonna pick it up, round the neck a little bit (fretboard edges need some work), strip the finish off the back of the neck, and upgrade the pickups/electronics. I have a feeling it's going to become my workhorse. There has only ever been one bass I've played that SPOKE to me, and it was a $2700 NAMM CS 62 RI Pbass. Who would have thought that I would find the bass of my dreams sporting a "Squier" decal on the headstock?

Well... I have major GAS for a RW Jazz... they have one in my LMS for £940... I also tried the CV Jazz... knocked out by it... I've a 62 Jazz myself and was bowled over by the feel and sound of both.

I quite like the gloss on the neck of the CV, it feels more'new like' if you get my drift.

I would swap out the machines for some vintage ones, pos stacked knobs, covers... lovely.

i played the p and the jazz in the music store last week. they looked and played pretty good. they were set up well. the p didnt buzz too much, but the neck is WIDE. they seemed overpriced at the 399 the store wanted, at 299 is probably a safe gamble.

my J is a five string, and i have a P with a standard neck. the classice vibe P neck felt weird as all hell. not hard to play, quite the opposite. but it was very odd, cant describe it.

the pickup was refreshingly quiet, even in a store full of flourescent lights.

Another vote for the 50's P. I saw it in a music store, played it, and for the $$ it's not bad. The more I see it the more I like it. Yes, it hums/buzzes like all getout, but that's to be expected from a single coil. I'd look into shielding it, and maybe a better PUP, but I'd have no problems playing it as is.

I'm kind of surprised that it has grown on me like it has. I'm sure I'll be owning it next time it goes on sale somewhere.
