MTD makes $10000 basses out of poplar AKA tulip wood. It’s a fine wood for making guitars

Mine arrived today and here it is against my 1976 Fender Precision. I was hoping the Mocha would be darker and closer in color to my '76, but it does look striking on its own.

I still need to replace the strings but sadly realized that I only had short scale flats on hand and will have to put that off until later. The stock strings are terrible and made me want to wait on flats before really digging into the bass. It needed some relief in the truss rod, and then played well (minus the strings) on first blush.

I am in the process of thinning my herd quite a bit and this bass will make a nice, inexpensive bass that I can leave at a rehearsal space or in my office to learn tunes.

I'll report back about the tone and full playability after I get some proper flats installed, but I am stoked as it is. If only it were a little darker...

Unfortunately, being polyurethane finish, won't darken (yellow) with age. The lighter mocha on these, isn't a problem for me

They got the color on 70s p bass with that walnut. For some reason the mocha doesn’t do it for me. Would like to see some special editions in other colors at some point. If it was black, I’d probably have already ordered one.

You can get a Vintera II version then.

I'm assuming that the bridge/nut distance is the same, so perhaps the body has less material at the bridge end?

I don’t think they’re cutting a different body but who knows

Never liked string through because they bend the strings making them hard to move to a different bass. I like swapping and reusing strings. Also the 4 individual saddles on the Squier is a functional improvement over the Fender. Costs a lot less too.

The wood showing through on this particular one is horrible looking! I much preferred the ash cap on the previous sunburst Squier Vintage Modified Precision TB bass.

On my hand , not much different compare to Indo CV50P neck.

I had tried also one of those, the neck was slim, very different from the Fender Vintera II 70's Telecaster.

I was gifted one of these. It's pretty cool. The neck is really comfy. Really shallow compared to my MIM P bass. It feels a whole lot like the neck on my Ibanez RB620. I don't like the input jack. It's too deep and I cant use a right angle cable. It's def very dark sounding but I like it. I've been keeping the tone rolled all the way up. I put an old set of DR Legend flats on it from another bass and they sound great. Going to try a fresh set of Dr Pure Blues at some point as well. I will prob at some point put a thumb rest on it. I really miss that pickup to brace my thumb. lol It's light as a feather. It's fun to play.

About the input jack depth , i have no problem with Fender and Dunlop MXR angle cable . Has no different depth compare to all indo CV 50P i been own previously.

You also can loose the jack nut to allow extent the jack socket slightly. Hope help.
