Squier Contemporary Active???

I'll definitely be trying out one of those as soon as I see one hanging up at Guitar Center or Sam Ash.
Nice to see someone selling basses with matching headstocks that don't cost $1,000 and up.
New passive models, too.

Exactly the thought that went through my head! It would make a really nice second to my main Jazz (currently with EMGs, soon to be Laces). Different enough vibe to be worth having, similar enough ballpark to sub in well.

Definitely a much bigger departure style-wise than I was expecting, and I totally dig it.

More Squiers with matching headstocks?! Well then, I guess I can kiss a couple months of my tip-money bye-dee-bye! :greedy: I may have to harvest a neck or two for tinkering & parts-bass purposes. Of course, it would be smarter to wait until used models start popping up. Ugh, "patience" and all that!! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Where did you find those pics and are there specs posted along with them?

Fender has discontinued the '60s Classic Vibe Jazz Basses possibly due to the increasing costs of producing them with a rosewood board. In order to keep them in the product line my guess is the price would have had to increase to $450 or more.

More than likely they wanted another model to take it's place at that $400 price point and this is it. The biggest curiosity may be how well these pickups and the 9v active electronics perform. My past experience with Fender's 9v active systems wasn't a good one.

I'm actually extremely excited about these. This is what I wanted from Squire.

People will say what they will (most Fender/Squire players simply seem to want well built P's & J's), but this offers something unique & different. I'm really excited to see what these pickups sound like.

Found them on reverb but they're gone now.
