Squier Contemporary Active???

Is it just me that finds it odd for a bass guitar to have a warning symbol that was designed for re-chargeable tech (mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc.)?

The triangle, circle, tick symbol is a warning to use the correct charger and cable.

The black one is not flat but glossy I know...
Yes, the 4 string is flat black and the 5 string is gloss black, except the 'satin' sweetwater exclusive.

I'm wondering how good the flat black finish is though. Hopefully not as flaky as some of the Ibanez finishes, but at least the Contemporary has a pickguard to cover some of the main areas that would need some protection.

I do like the look of this model without a pickguard though and I figure it would be easier to fill them in and touch up a flat finish compared to the gloss, but that depends on how good this flat finish is.

If the finish isn't up to much, then I'd want to at least change the pickguard, but the size of the pickup doesn't allow for an easy swap. I could cover the pickguard with vinyl or DIY one from a standard jazz pickguard. I'd really like to make one to my own design, but have never worked much at all with plastic and don't know if I even have the right tools to attempt it, plus I'd have to drill more holes in the body which I don't think is such a good idea.

Hello;
If you want a pick guard with something different you are in luck! As you mentioned using a stick on vinyl> Well the automotive industry is where to look for a "wrap shop" where they wrap cars! You can go and select your vinyl and DIY or have them do it for you!
I have the white bass with the "Black Chrome"
I do know that my Contemporary has sustain for days!!!! I guess it's a candidate for a fret wrap!
