That’s in Euros, which is about $133 USD. It’s damn cheap for a name brand though, regardless.
Some preliminary Googling suggests the Debut series is Amazon exclusive. Makes sense. I wonder how they compare to something like a Glarry.
I've bought 2 Glarry's and have been pretty blown away by the build quality. Some sharp frets and uninspiring hardware, but perfectly acceptable beginner basses and great mod platforms. I'm just one sample out of thousands, though, and I'm sure lots of people have goten crap from them. That said, they're cheap as heck, so it's really not a gamble.Given my experience with Glarry, I'd hope and pray that the Squier is better quality. But won't hold my breath. I would love to snag one just to see, though.

Why? If someone’s primary intention is to swap out all the hardware, why spend more for parts that are just going to get trashed? If the wood chassis is good enough, I see no point in buying something more expensive unless there’s a specific design element you can’t get for less money. For the amount you’ll spend on mods, just save a little longer and buy a better bass.

I'm in your camp, but it depends on the sort of guy you are. Why? If someone’s primary intention is to swap out all the hardware, why spend more for parts that are just going to get trashed?
