Don't worry about it too much! Take detailed photos of things before you start and then you've got a reference point if it goes a little wrong. The best way to learn these things is by a little trial and error!

Figured its best to learn on my cheapest bass right? Lol. I love this thing but as more practices have gone by its a bit lacking in the balls department. Still sounds great just as great as I'd like.

I picked up one of the little basses yesterday. I have to say I'm impressed with it considering what it cost. Incredibly lightweight and superb fit/finish for the money. It also sounds good and is a blast to play.

Get yourself one of these and you will never have that problem again:

StringSwing Guitar Jack & Ferrule Tool (model CC18)

You can get them at Guitar Center or Musician's Friend for $19 bucks. Somewhat pricey for a small brass tool, but it will save you having to deal with loose jacks. Super easy to use too.

Added DiMarzio 250K pots, and am loving them. A couple of warnings though, these are larger than the stock ones, and barely fit in the cavity. Take care to get them in there without the connections touching each-other or the conductive paint. But they will fit. The sound is so much better as I first added DiMarzio Pups, than later the pots. The pots did make a difference. Also, if going this route, get new knobs too as the shaft is longer and seems a bit wider too.

So far I've made the following upgrades;
1. Babicz Bridge $69
2. DiMarzio Pups $119
3. DiMarzio Pots $20
Total $208

Total with the Bass $377

Tuners will be next (and last) so I'll end up with a bass at about $500 setup the way I like, and a short scal to boot. I love this thing!

I'm interested in the Jag SS as travel bass. Has anyone carried this on airplanes and can you share the experience? I'm especially wondering if the neck is easy to remove and reinstall.... Any chance of trouble doing that? The idea would be to break the bass into two smaller parts that would fit inside a carry on bag. On smaller commuter planes there is often no space in the overhead for a gig bag that's 40 inches long.

How long is the bottom of neck to top of headstock?
