Any reason for me not to buy a fretless Jazz Bass that I think I want? I’m more inclined to play R&B, Funk more than rock.

Squier Jazz Bass question

Fretless is a different beast but if you're into it then go for it. It will work with rnb and funk no prob.
I don't own one and used to not put too much stock into em but TB changed my mind. Fretless def has a vibe.

If you play fingerstyle a fretless will work for R&B and funk. However, if you plan on slapping it is a bit more complicated. It is certainly possible to slap on fretless, but it is tonally much different than on fretted. It is an unusual sound more akin to Rockabilly slap than funk slap.
