The profit margin on most models is the same. So, they're not really losing out. All that's happening is a shift in the mentality that you have to spend more to get a much better instrument. The CVs are very close in quality to the new MIMs, and for much less money. The Chinese Fenders are going to kill themselves because they have no traditional offerings, and that puts people off. That said, there are upper level MIMs that are to American Fenders what the CVs are to the MIM Standards. There's nothing wrong with competing with yourself. The money all goes to the same place.
