Squier MusicMaster Vista Club

My latest... picked this up last week on the bay. The headstock is nicely yellowed, and only a few blems. Waiting for a set of Chromes to arrive and it will be set to play.

Make that 58. Been having some issues with my sea foam green beauty. Found out today that the pick up has gone. I'm so gutted. They are so hard to find. I have never met a bass I liked as much as this one. Vintage, legendary, super pricey basses have passed through my hands, and I have let them go because they couldn't hold a candle to mine.

You have a few options with a pickup. You can either get an Aero 4 pole which is what the original 4 pole Musicmaster basses used, or you can put a single coil guitar pickup in there. I did the latter with a lipstick bridge pickup off guitarfetish.com, and have been pleasantly surprised. For $30, that pickup sounds awesome. But worst case scenario, you can always just throw a strat pickup in there.

I'm actually thinking of getting the pickup fixed. I don't know the micro details of how a pick up is made, but apparently it could be fixed- of course the dude in the shop thought it wasn't worth my time, which is why I won't be getting him to fix it.

And no, no picture to hand, will a video do?

What a fantastic video! That will indeed do! Congratulations Judy, you are Member No. 58!

Contemplating becoming member # 59. Just found one on craigslist. What are these worth? What price is this a steal or a must purchase? Anything to be wary of?
Black is the most common color and is therefore the cheapest. I got mine for around $150-175, but that appears to be an odd occurrence. I have seen them go upwards of $500 for the other colors. See if it has the original Vista Series pickup. They were often changed out for some reason. The general consensus here is that they sound awesome.

I own 2, a black and a white. I just picked up the white for $325 plus $30 shipping. It's in reasonable shape and all original. I think $300-350 for a good condition, all original black instrument with a $50 premium for white or pink, and $100 for blue (hen's teeth hard to find) you would feel like you got a good deal. Although made in China, these have excellent craftsmanship and sound, and are far better than the older US ones IMHO. I believe they will also appreciate substantially over the next few years, so buying now would be smart.

There is nothing wrong with the hardware or the stock pick up in my opinion. I've never said that about any other Squier model.

I did have to do a little bit of work on bridge plate. It appeared that my bridge was mounted wrong the first time and then they remounted it but it still did not line up with the through body string holes. It was no big deal at all though as I had the proper tools to do the job and it didn't take long at all.

I'm very pleased with mine.

Found one. Set up to meet tonight after work. I am leaving for vacation tomorrow. Seller "had something come up" and can't meet me after work. Won't let me meet in the morning so looks like I am out of luck. Even willing to take a risk and pay for it now and ask seller to hold it till I come home but don't thin that will work. Bummed.

Did you find it on Craigslist ? If so and the ad is still listed it could be anything. Someone could have contacted the seller and was told it was already sold and they offered more money.

That may not be what happened in your case but it is happened to me before. Twice in the past the sellers even admitted it.

Where do you live ? If you're in a large metro area another one will come along.

That is a bummer, man. I hope it's still around when you get back.
