I haven't gigged with both of them yet.

It was a lot of fun experimenting with all the options available with having two amps. One wet one dry, one dirty one clean, stereo effects, etc.

I need two more of the same cabinets. I think that's how they will sound best with the stuff I play.

@lowplaces - Those are 2 homebrew 1X12's... They're basically TL808's... sound great with a number of heads, and make for a light load in

All I Do is an awesome track. Really love the guitar parts and the backups to your vocals. Lead vocals are so cool. Indie style but enough bounce and dynamics to stand out and make it catchy. Awesome.

So I've had a Vista for about 15 years (was my first bass at 10 years old) and have never put flats on it

I'm looking to rectify this don't worry! I know strings very much a personal decision but I am wondering what gauge people use to get decent tension? Is medium scale the best way to go?

Well, a recommendation would depend on a lot of things.

For example, if you like your action is low as possible you would probably want a set with high string tension.

I prefer higher action than most players, so TI Jazz Flats work for me. But a lot players would not recommend them for short scale instruments. They are a bit floppy due to their lower tension.

I'm guessing you will get suggestions to try D'Addario Chromes and GHS Precision Flats. I'm not crazy about either one but that doesn't mean you won't dig them.

I think most of the LaBella sets are not suitable for through body bridge designs, so you may want to cross them off the list.

Anyhow be patient. Some club members will chime in.

This thread has sat idle for too long. Here's a couple pics.

I previously posted this photoshop mockup, but I've edited it a bit. The top photo is the bass as it sits now (though I have replaced the speed knobs with Jazz bass knobs). The second is a very quick photoshop job. I was cruising Reverb and noticed a white Vista Jagmaster that had the white/cream pickup covers and knobs. I really liked the look so I updated the photo quickly. The pickup image is just half of the the Jagmaster pickup for speed and ease. If I were to somehow cover the existing Vista pickup I'd need to think about the best way to do that. I'm torn on the look. I love the original but I also love the tort/white look.

Those both look great, you clearly need one of each.

Where did you get a time machine to bring Joannie Mitchell back from 1968 to play guitar in your band? Can I rent it? I am trying to get Jimi to record with us.

You don't have the 760 FM set on your MusicMaster do you ?

I had the 760FM set on the Musicmaster and I also tried them on my CIJ Mustang. I couldn't bond with them on the Musicmaster, but I tried them on the Mustang about a year or so later and really liked them. They just don't work well with the current band I'm in. I'll probably try them again when I'm playing different music.

Now to the subject at hand. Short Scale Chromes fit perfectly on both of my Vistas and sound great.

If you like TI flats, you'll love them on this bass. They make a medium scale JF324 that I put on mine. Middy bliss. (The 32 is the scale length of course vs JF344 for the full scale 4 string version.)

I haven't tried other flats on it. I bought a set of medium scale GHS flats that I never used. May still have them.

Thanks to Bugeyedearl I've got a black Vista again. The new Roto 77s seem to agree with the string through bridge. Waiting on a pearl pickguard before i get to play.
