Squier MusicMaster Vista Club

So... last weekend a friend of mine had his music store go out of business and he was liquidating everything within the store. He posted some photos of all these old parlor guitars he had and in the back there was this. I paid $20 for it, now it's battle scarred and the pickup doesn't work anymore in it, but it plays like a dream and sounds great acoustically. I'm curious as to what I should do about the pickup? I live in Richmond, so Lindy Fralin is nowhere from where I live, do I take it to him for a rewind or??? I've read quite a bit that you guys have stated and I know the Duncan route is an option as well!

Also! Way back I noticed you guys were talking about how the factory seemingly covered the colors that weren't popular or what have you. My bass was obviously painted pink first, then black, then the sonic blue. Headstock has dings and it's white underneath... These are cool basses! Would love a number as well

$20!?!? (muttered cursing) Well done, I think that is the lowest price anyone has paid for one of these. And a non-black one to boot! As far as the pickup, are you sure the pickup itself is dead or is there maybe a wire disconnected somewhere? Have you checked it with a multimeter?

I'd check the pickup first (if you haven't already). Assuming it's dead, it depends on what you're looking for. If you want quick and easy go with the SCPB-3. But if you're looking to get closer to the factory spec, then a rewind might be in order. You may have already seen on a previous page where I listed physical dimensions and DC resistance of a handful of pickups. For a rewind you could use those as reference points, though my measurement method was a bit crude.

I don't get it, either. I watch Ric prices since I'm sort of on the market for one, and I see listings daily for over twice what US sellers are asking. And they keep resisting them at the same ridiculous prices. Who is buying them? I look at the pictures for something more valuable in the background that they're really selling...

Hello there, I'm wondering if this lil group of folks who own a '97 Squier MusicMaster w/ Vista Tone pickups is just hibernating. I own a white one, which like the picture posted second or third in this thread, is what mine looks like. It's turned from off white to antique white... a few dings however, it has been hardly played. A couple of professional gigs and home use. The bass has been hibernating in its hard case for over the last ten years. Purchased new in late 2001 from Austin's original Heart of Music specifically sold to me by the owner, Ray Henning. Gentleman who gave Stevie Ray his first and beloved guitar. :)

I have the P Bass bridge cover off of my P and for some reason decided to sit it on the MusicMaster along with a tug bar.

I'd say Nay, but only because I find bridge covers to be a pain in the butt. As far as looks go it's alright... I guess :)
