Squier MusicMaster Vista Club

Well, it turns out a 70's MM neck doesn't fit on our beloved Squier version. There is about 1/8" of play in the neck pocket. Installing the neck would require drilling new holes which would be so close to the edge of the neck that they likely wouldn't hold.

Oh well, maybe I'll find an unloved Musicmaster body some day and have a cool project. As for now, the Mustang bass is king......

Dang...
It would be nice to know if a Bronco neck would fit. I got my entire Bronco for 80 bucks and I absolutely love the neck. If it fits, it would be a terrific neck on a Vista MusicMaster, particularly a black one like yours on which the Maple neck would be a great contrast. Under $100 Broncos are out there and you could sell the body for at least 50 bucks after pulling the neck off of it. Paint the headstock black to match your bass and put on a cool white logo and you'll have the coolest short scale in town. Also I bet the lighter Bronco neck and tuners would cure the Vista MusicMaster neck dive LOL!
I could check the fit for you, but I really don't want to pull the neck off my Bronco and Vista MM basses to find out for sure. I'll try to do some measurements over the weekend though and let you know.
You know, if we were not in different countries I might offer to work out a swap of my surf blue MM for yours and then do a Bronco/Vista MM mod project myself. Either the Vista pickup in the Bronco body or the Bronco neck on the Vista or a combination of both. Then I would sell whichever parts I didn't keep on Ebay and probably end up with a very cool bass that didn't cost that much.
OK, so I guess what I am saying is buy a damn Bronco and use it and your Vista for a project to make a really cool short scale. Whatever Frankenbass you end up with - as long as it has something in it from your MM - I'll still let you stay in the Vista MM club :D

Nice bass bl00mer! Looks exactly like mine!
The only suggestion I can give you is to just play it. The Vista MMs are a great sounding short scale and pretty darn easy to play.
NTW, you are member No. 9!

Hello, I´m new here in this forum, with best wishes from germany.
I just owned a Shell Pink Musicmaster Vista Bass and so I found this forum and read your threads with interest.
My MM is in pretty good condition. So it was not a "cheap" deal, but here (germany) it is more difficult to get one of these awsome (bass) guitars - they are very, very, very hard to find:eyebrow:.
The guitar is all original (incl. the strings are the first set!:p), I only changed to Jazz Bass knobs.
It´s a great guitar!

I wish I had known about the MM Vista sooner! Now I gotta find one. Back in my touring days, I had four Musicmaster basses, Black, white, red, and seafoam green. Through the years I sold two, one got stolen, and I really have no idea what happened to the red one... ( I wonder if it's in the attic at my moms house??...)

Maybe a custom built Warmoth (30" Warhead neck) Musicmaster... hmmmm

That's a beauty. It looks like it's in great shape and I love the color!

Vista MusicMaster basses are out there, sitting in people's basements, who have no idea how nice a bass they are or what they are worth. I got mine on the local online classifieds for the asking price of $150. But you better be quick if one is posted. I checked the classifieds twice daily for over a year, missed two and finally snagged the one I now have.

hey MM lovers,

i just picked up a all original black musicmaster bass.

here it is:

it,s a killer bass and so easy to play.
i normally play on one of my 3 thunderbirds, and the MM feels like a guitar:P

hope i paid a good price €200,- (about 258,78 dollar) with a hardcase from rockcases.:bassist:.

Hi, didn't know about this thread.

I'm a lover of this bass. I got a blue one in 2006. Later I bought a pink one, but it was a lot lighter than the blue one and the sound wasn't the same, so I sold it. Then I tryied to rebuild a Fender from the seventies, but I neved got a good sound from the pickup I made copying the Squier one.

I recorded our last album with my blue faithful friend

If any of you have an original pickup for sell I'm looking for one, because mine was damaged by a bad amp. First I tryied rewiring it, but couldn't get the same tone, so I replaced it with and AERO copy (custom made starting from the Vista Tone dimension) but isn't the same. I want the original back !

A picture of the AERO version installed

That is awesome iguana! Looks just like mine! I need to get a matching shirt like that one LOL!
Sorry, I don't happen to have an original pickup, other than the one in my bass. However they do pop up on Ebay from time to time.

That is a good price around here. These regularly go for $300 in much worse shape!

Enjoy!
