I have a Squire P Special '05. Which I have hot rodded with Seymore Duncan bassline "Vintage". New custom pickguard-Schaller tuning machines and all new pots.The special has both P& J pickups. great combination. Problem....The "J" pickup which is single coil is making a herendous noise.Any suggestions on how to eliminate the buzzhum?

This is a myth...Squier Active Deluxe V dispells this myth for $300

I ordered a VMJ squier on july 3rd but to this day, is still on backorder (musicians friend) the bass has been "on stock and ready to ship" for about three days but nothing yet.

I love my Indonesian-built Affinity P-bass, but the pickguard (while serviceable) is downright cheap. Anybody have a lead on where you can buy proper-fitting replacements?

I might as well jump aboard the club.

I have 3 squiers, an Affinity Jazz 5 string, an Affinity 4 string, and just picked up a modified Jazz (fretless)

here's a pic of the 4 string, which I blinged up a bit with a black daimondplate pickguard, a Badass II bridge and some new strings. really dig the sound with the new bridge and strings.

just put flatwounds on the fretless as well

I've got one, the fretless. And the more i'm here the less special I feel about having one....

But Mine is a year old. And had a cymbal stand fall on it at it's first show.

i'm thinking of change the bridge (badass bass II maybe, i don't know) and maybe the pickups, but anyways... this is a great bass, love it ;D

I just bought this from a TBer this past week and had no intention of keeping it. I haven't played a 5 string in several years but I have to say that I'm pretty surprised at how cool this axe is.

The past ownership of the bass is not 100% clear in my mind, but as far as I can tell it's mostly stock right now, including the original strings. It looks like the bridge was switched out for an AllParts heavy duty bridge, but everything else seems stock.

I love the string spacing and wider nut. For a stock bass this thing is pretty darn good and I would think a couple of small modifications would make this quite a player.

I'll be reaching out for some guidance from you Squier mod-heads over the next month or so. I don't know a lot about these basses, but on the surface I'm amazed at how much bass this is for the money .....

I think that the bridge is the stock model.I have one of these basses and the bridge is the same as mine.I found that the installed pickups are in fact 4-pole J style,and as such are not really suitable for a 5-string with this string spacing.I swapped them for Seymour Duncan SJB5s and this improved things.You may find that the G string has a weaker response than the other 3 and this is why.The SDs have a blade type magnet which is more capable than the standard J type.On the other hand you may have no problems at all in this area.I like the bass personally.The string spacing takes a bit of getting used to,but thats all.
