I had mine modified because I did not care much for the sound of the two pups.
So now there's just the one pu in the "sweet spot", volume and tone and the switch does single coil / humbucker.
All I have to do is play it so it does not feel that new. I don't like playing new instruments. The sound is awesome though.

Thanks for all the feedback. The price was too good to pass up, so I pulled the trigger yesterday and just got the notification that it’s been shipped. I’ve never owned a short scale and it seems like most of the negative impressions were regarding that aspect. Not sure if weight will be an issue for me either, which was the other negative strike.

I’m really excited to hear how the wide range humbuckers sound. A lot of comments mentioned how it sounded like a Gibson. I had a thunderbird bass that I liked the sound of, but let go for ergonomic reasons. Other than that, I don’t really have any experience with Gibson style basses.

Lots of great Black Friday deals out there right now. Just ordered some new super bright nickel strings for my J as well. I guess I need to start researching short scale strings.

Cool decal. Are you a Springfield native? People around here are real proud of their Indian motorcycles.

Thanks! Actually I am Dutch, so from The Netherlands, Europe.
But over here geezers my age love them Indians, Hendersons, Harley's and such from back in the days you know.

Wait a minute! Springfield? Isn't that where the Simpsons live? 🤔

Several US states have a Springfield. I live just outside of Springfield MA, home of Indian Motorcycle. Our Hockey team was the Springfield Indians for many years.

Please be aware that this bass needs at least medium scale strings. Short scale strings won't fit.

So - got the bass - really much cooler tones than I was expecting. I decided to make it a 1 bridge pickup bass so out went the neck pickup and 3 way switch, in went new CTS pots, switchcraft jack and orange drop cap and a white pearl pickguard was ordered. Playing it now as a mutt with the original pickguard until the new one arrives but it now weighs in at a comfortable 8 pounds 7 ounces. The neck pickup weighs a little over a half pound! More neck dive now but thats never worried me and there are always Hipshot ultralites to install if it did become a problem. Still wearing the stock rounds and it has a nice rock bass edge with a wide tonal range so will probably leave it that way for a while. Its a different vibe bass thats fun to play for not a lot of $$

Thanks, my model is thru body only. My issue is after my initial play through I’m not loving the tension on the low e. I’m hoping some medium/short strings will help with that. I’m also considering flats to hopefully get a stiffer feel.
