Squier sonic p bass sale

I actually have the burst P out of the very first set that came out.

I was surprised to find the neck and the pickup to be rather exceptional

I almost bought one of these as a mod platform as Fender had a great sale and some of them you could take an extra 10% off. I ultimately saw the olive green CME exclusive CV 60’s Jazz and pulled the trigger. Kyle even hooked it up with an extra 10% with a custominvoice emailed to me. It will be delivered to work on Monday.

I ended up going with the discounted CV (although more expensive) because I have a CV 60’s P bass that punches way above its class stock (frets were dressed great and a great set up made it amazing). Truly amazed a sub $500 bass this day and age can be so rad.

I wasn’t sure if the neck pocket on the sonics fit a FMIC standard neck and that was a reason I didn’t venture down the route. I tried searching to no avail. I did read that the bodies are thinner than standard. One of those Klos necks is calling my name and that was my driving force behind the purchase. My P was going to be that but honestly it sounds so good I don’t want to mess with it. And a Jazz with a graphite neck is very alluring and would be the Jazz counterpart to my Modulus Q5 SS.

I’m still thinking about ordering one of these Rascal basses because I am itching for a short scale and all reviews say they have a thick massive tone. Let’s see what the weekend brings lol.

The Rascal is a very nice bass and it does sound heavy and hit hard. There is one thing that takes a little bit of getting used to and that is the bridge placement. The body is so big on the bass and the bridge is mounted farther forward than you would normally find a bridge on a fender. If you play with a pic and you palm mute that will take some adjustment and getting used to. But I love the one I have and I've always liked the sound of the fender wide range humbuckers.

FWIW you’ve heard right, the Rascal has thick and massive tone. Because of the bridge placement it feels ergonomically more like a hollow body, though is heavy. I find I get a good 70-72ish Lesh sound out of mine.

Curious...has anyone dropped an EMG GZR pick up in one of these? If so, was it an improvement?

I'm wondering the same thing. The stock pickup sounds really good to me, so I wonder if investing $100 in pickup upgrade on a sub-$200 bass is worth it.

Same! I had zero need for another P Bass but at $148 total delivered to my front door I couldn't resist. The only disappointing thing for me so far is that I ordered 9 days ago and it finally went to 'label created" status on the Fender website.

I love my Sonic P. Bought mine in April. The pickups sound great in my opinion, and the neck is fantastic. Only thing I've change on mine is a gold anodised pickguard and a set of flats, and I shielded it. Mines an Indo one. Don't think there's a better bargain out there!

That came out great. I too was underwhelmed by the white, sprayed it in black

I ordered mine and yellow on November 29th. I just now a couple of days ago received a notification that it had been shipped and is tentatively due to hit here this week on Thursday 12/12

I was surprised when I saw that it was shipping from California. You'd think a company as large a Fender would have a centrally located facility that handles shipping products to give quicker delivery times to the East Coast.

Although I'm sure if they did that it would cost a little bit more because of the added transportation costs of getting the product from reports in Los Angeles to the Midwest warehousing locations.

Mine finally showed up today. I can’t really find anything wrong with it so far. The action is pretty low. Intonation needs worked on but not bad. I’m testing different ideas like black knobs and black ashtray. For less than $150 delivered it seems way good. Made in Indonesia. Where were these in 1983 when I needed one?

Mine in the same color is due to arrive tomorrow. I bought it as a modding platform. However, I might just put it on my bench and set it up then donate it to a student who needs a decent instrument to play. I like to do that from time to time as my way to pay it forward.

I donated an Epiphone Les Paul to a local dance hall/concert venue that was asking for rock and roll memorabilia. The grand opening season they had some good old name bands from the 60s, 70s and 80s. They all signed my guitar and it’s now in a display case at the entrance. Tommy James and the Shondells, Head East, The Romantics and others. I didn’t know they would do that but it’s cool.

I just put a new high mass style bridge on mine tonight. Decided to use the original barrels and do a black/chrome contrast. Killer looks and sound with the TAOT wiring kit and SDQP. Total investment so far is $260. It’s by far my least expensive bass and without a doubt my favorite.

Mine got here yesterday. Pretty impressed especially for the sale price. Glad to see the finish is not satin and a bit subdued rather than a blinding yellow. Plays decently with a small amount of fret buzz on the G string up high. I'll touch up the frets up there and it'll be fine. Even though the pickup is an entry level ceramic magnet pickup it sounds very good. That PG is not my favorite so it's on the change list. This is a very nice bass for the money. Back in 1969 when I switched to bass we didn't have anything as nice as this in an entry level bass. Newbies have options nowadays.

Now the obligatory pics. The camera in my Pixel 8 pro gives it a slight orange tint but it's yellow.

got it! She's great! Came set up pretty well right out of the box. Neck feels great with no fret buzz. As for negatives... The string tree is a little bent, the input jack cuts in and out, and the volume pot is bent a bit. All easy, cheap fixes. Definitely going to replace the pick guard as it's cheap looking. Amazing for $139!

Did a little mod to mine for fun (EMG Geezer, pickguard and a bridge which I had laying around). Took it to band rehearsal yesterday and it was spectacular. These sonics are great
