Squier Squire 6 string Affinity Jazz!

Well, that’s interesting. Can’t wait to see it show up in the review ecosystem.
The last FMIC 6 was the Steve Bailey fretless which was at least 3 grand in 1999 dollars.

Huh. Can't say this is something I was expecting to see.
I want to try one of those out even though I'm not a 6 string guy. The 2 band active EQ looks interesting, especially compared to the typical passive VVT configuration.
WHAT took them so long?? Oh well, I don't care, SX took care of me some 10 years ago!

No, they're just standard fixed pole pieces, you can see them more clearly in this picture from the Invalid Link Removed:
I called and asked them why they didn't go 3 x 3 and they couldn't give me an answer.

Though the string spacing looks a little wide for my hands this excites me, and very unexpected. I wonder if they're using the Affinity Series to gauge whether a 6'er will sell or not, and if it does well I can see Fender doing a more higher quality model in the future. It's fun to daydream, but if Fender made a 24 fret version at 16.5mm string spacing that would *chef's kiss*
Totally respect your opinion, but as a counterpoint: there are a billion 16.5mm spacing 6 strings on the market. We could use more options with wider spacings at a lower price point.
Lets face it. Squier has been releasing much more interesting designs than Fender for a while.
First I impulse bought a Squier Sonic P the other day, then there’s this thing coming…Y’know, I distinctly remember not wanting to touch Squiers with a ten foot pole back in the early 90s, when I started playing. The market of “low end” or “budget” basses has changed massively over the last three decades.
i am definitely going to have to try one of these. I love playing 6 string bass! I have a Yamaha TRB6ii Im very fond of right now, I like the wider string spacing. Hope they offer some attractive finish options.
They've released a new 5 string version as well, active 2-band preamp with noiseless pickups. Two volume controls with stacked bass and treble. There's also an active 4 string in green that looks nice. £299 and £289 in the UK
the 6 strings is passive, only the 5er and 4 have the pre, not sure why though
I'm not a Fender fanboy by any means, but this is just completely wrong. Fender bodies have had the upper horn reach to the twelfth fret since the beginning.
