So I brought home my new VMJ5, and the bridge won't adjust, the hexes are totally the wrong size for literally any allen key. Need a cheap bridge solution here. Do Fender MIM bridges fit on the Squiers?

As has been mentioned, the bridge size is likely 1.5mm. That's what it is on my PJ special, and you'll also get a 4mm for the truss rod.

What are you reffering for a original Jag?
I was looking for a P/J config bass.
I dont have yet budget for the Fender. Shipping to Philippines kills my budget.

What I meant by "original Jag" was the very first black/tort Jag model offered by Squier with the Duncan Designed P/J pickups with the stacked control knobs. $299 USD new.

I swapped out my hardware for black as well, and swapped out for an Audere preamp and Nordy pups. That with a full setup and she plays like a dream!

Hey what about black screws? I swapped all black too including screws, stealth.... I left "Florida" chrome though.

That's what I was thinking, T. If I'm gonna black out a bass, I'm gonna go whole hog, screws, strap pins, output jack, strings even.

Just pulled my black beauties and put roto 66's on. The blacks looked cool but I wasn't that big in the tone after a while. The Rotosound of course are stellar sounding.

Here's mine the day I got it. Pretty upset with the mismatch wood and scratchy tone pot, but oh well. Plays and sounds great!
Upgraded to Gotoh 201 bridge and fender knobs

I'd like to ask you guys with the VM J with the three piece bodies, when did you get those? I got mine in 2010 and it has a two piece body. Same goes for my amber VM P.

VMJ 3 piece. I bought used in April 2011 so I assume it was bought new in 2010 some time.

Would 2 piece vs. 3 piece cause any difference in sound?

I had a VMJ that was marked "APR 07" in the neck pocket that had a really nice two piece body. Has anyone nailed down exactly when they switched construction?
