I'm thinking about getting one of these VM P Basses. I prefer the natural finish to the white but I see the natural is made entirely of maple, seems like that would be really heavy. To anyone who has tried them side by side and noticed a significant weight difference?

All I can tell you is my Amber VM P is about 9.5 pounds, not inordinately heavy.

I haven't put mine on a scale, but my amber VM P is probably a little less than that...whatever it is, I use a comfort strap and barely can tell I have it on.
FWIW, weight does matter to me. I can't play a heavy bass for very long, but I can play that Amber VM P all day with no problems.
I've lived with it long enough to know it's not perfect, but I love that bass, dammit!

Yup, the HB7's are a good direct drop in replacement. I have em on my VMJ5. Feels more solid and tunes much smoother than the stock tuners.

Well, I have doubled my VM clout...I just bought a VM V Jazz, so my amber VM P can have someone to hang out with while I am at work....Now I just have to learn how to play a 5!

Well, you asked about custom PG's and that's what they do. Just send them a tracing of your pg, or the pg itself, and they will make an exact copy. It may be more expensive, but you have to pay for custom work.

My amber P is 9lbs. It's soft maple, not as dense as the maple they use for necks.

Any reviews on Squier VM Jaguar bass and Squier VM Jaguar bass special (no the shortscale). they have $40 difference. and I can't decide which bass to buy because I saw the sunburst with block inlays and tortoise pickguard of the $240 Jag. and their difference also is the $240 Jag has agathis body and the $200 Jag has basswood body.

You can get the more expensive original Jag at Musician's Friend in sunburst, and quite frankly, IMO, the body wood is irrelevant. I would go for the original jag.

What are you reffering for a original Jag?
I was looking for a P/J config bass.
I dont have yet budget for the Fender. Shipping to Philippines kills my budget.

So I brought home my new VMJ5, and the bridge won't adjust, the hexes are totally the wrong size for literally any allen key. Need a cheap bridge solution here. Do Fender MIM bridges fit on the Squiers?
