Does anyone own both the original, maple bodied VM-J and one of the new sunburst/rosewood/tort jobs?

Is there a noticeable difference in tone?

I have one of the maple one and the local shop has a burst and its very sweet, but i'm trying to convince myself not to buy it :)

My Squire VM Jazz Bass, I love it!!

Got A VM P in white about a year and a half ago 'cause I didn't want to take my fancier bass out of the house much. The VM P is now my main player.

Since buying it I've had a quarter pounder jazz pickup installed in the bridge position. The pots are concentric stacks with a volume and tone for each pickup. Also sprayed the covers for the p pickup white.

Apologies for the crappy phone pic.

Are we talking igloos? And nobody called me?!?

tomersg - you've got some epic bass face in a few of those pics! And you're right about these being workhorses. Mine has taken a light beating over the last year, and still looks and sounds great.

Oh well, just spending the evening chillin' with my VM J, and thought I'd catch up on this thread and let all you cool dudes know that I sold my Fender and my Ibanez... but kept the Squier! How can you sell the only bass you've ever gigged, and how can you sell a Squier that was complimented by a guy playing a Zon?!?!

Anyway, this one's a keeper for sure. Eagerly awaiting Squier VM Club V.2! :bassist:

Bought a Squier VM Jazz Natural last week from here on TB. This week added J Retro Deluxe, had output jack moved to the side and had a battery box added to the back for easy access. Also I took the Squier name off the headstock. Thinking of a design to place on the headstock now.

I have a semi-complete list of Fender/Squier bridges with their respective part numbers. Maybe this will just confuse things, but it's a start anyway.

As far as I can tell, the VMs and CV use the same parts as the Fenders, especially if the part numbers are the same.

*Fender discontinued numbering system

NOTE:
Fender and Squier use the same numbering system
for their respective parts, and bridges that are the same number
are the same part no matter if it's a Squier or a MIA or MIJ or
MIM Fender.

If anyone has more or finds a problem here, just copy/past a new list with the changes.
