Squier vintage modified club

My VM P purchased November of 08, and VM J purchased May of 09.

The J is all stock, I've replaced the strings but with the same kind it came with.

The P has had a few things done to it, added a SD QP, CTS pots (250k) Switch Craft Jack Orange Drop Cap, and for a while a hi mass bridge (Gotoh 201 Knockoff). The bridge has since been removed. I just couldn't get the saddles where I wanted them, and even with a shim, the action was too high. It didn't make that much of a difference anyway tonewise, it did look a little nicer though.

Both bass's have had complete fret levels done on them, the P requiring much more work than the J. I'd also like to get a tort guard for the P, and all black hardware for the J.

I'm hoping to add both the CV's to the collection in the new year. I really like these bass's.

Its took a very good inexspensive bass with cheaper hardware and turned it into one killer machine.

Call me what you want but I like these more then your average MIA Jazz.

I have the VM J & VM J FL.......both, all blacked out. VM J has DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pups. Both copper shielded. VMJ FL has 500k pots.
Love 'em .......

Also, both have Gotoh 201 black bridges...no real diff on the FL ...but big diff on the J.
(to go along with new black knobs, plates, schaller strap pins, tuners, string trees, PG screws, neck plate on the eFL....

I have a VM fretless jazz bass. I have changed the bridge to a badass II bridge, changed the nut to a bone and have roto flatwounds and it makes me happy! Tried roto trubass 88 but it lost too much mid-range def for me

bought last winter after about a ten year break from playing. can't wait to mod it. I'm thinking of doing the black hardware and replacing the pots first.

I recently got my grubbies on an '06 VM 70's Jazz used. Love the retro vibe, and it appears to be totally stock. It's a nice player and fared well during my last gig.

Before I do any mods, I need to put on another set of strings. Being essentially lazy, I prefer the coated strings for their decent sound and long life -- I've been using Warwick EMP's and Elixirs.

I'm toying the with the idea of going to flats on this bass and keeping rounds on my '90 Jazz Plus...not feeling very decisive right now. It will be interesting to see how a new set of strings will change the sound of this bass. The current strings look to be pretty light -- probably .40's. I'll probably go to .45's like I have on the J+ as the VM has a lot less bottom-end in the sound as compared to the J+.

The pots are a bit scratchy, so I'll replace them with CTS pots and an Orange Drop capacitor in my (not so) copious free time. I noticed that this bass has 500K pots and an .068 uf capacitor, which explains the bright sound of this bass -- I'll use the same values in the replacements.

Long term wants include maybe a black pearloid pickguard and a heavier bridge. We'll see as I don't feel the need to do that anytime soon.
