I have no issue with the stock bridge on my VM Jazz. But if I was to change it out, I'd look for one like the Classic Vibe Jazz has or I would add a Wilkinson for the vintage look....
great--- nice and low. No fret buzz either. Almost as low as my Geddy Lee which is sickly low. Plus it has sustain and clarity for days. Plus....with it being black along with all the other hardware being black-- it looks sano.
I always wanted a black bridge on my VMJ but it seems that action seems to be an issue for most guys here on TB. Thanks for the answer.
CTS would be the brand of pots that I would use. As far as I can tell, they are the brand that Fender uses in (most? all?) of their basses.
I'll need to check the codes on the pots themselves to see if the pots use a linear or audio (logarithmic) taper -- at the same time, I will play with them to see if I like the way that particular taper works.
I'm vaguely remembering little change in the tone knob until I got to the end, which screams of audio taper. I wonder if I wouldn't like a linear taper better there...thoughts from the peanut gallery are welcome!

What timing.
I just took one off to make it a fretless.
Not trade, but since I have 3 of these basses I will sell one that just came off a body (complete neck with tuners shipped for $125)
I will replace it right now.
+1. So fond of it I have not modded the electronics...(exc. shielding and new pots) Did a total black out of the bass though.
Picked up a VM Tele P the other day...thunder.... my neighbor just asking me to turn down the volume...

Below is a link to a photo of my hybrid 70's VM Jazz Bass. I call it the "Ian Hill". I took the neck and pickguard from the natural wood finish fretted and put it on the body of the ftretless model. Both were Squier VM Jazz Basses.
