Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass V Special 5 String

Purchased the squire vintage modified V in the summer of 2015. Right away got to work modifying. Routed the body out added a Hipshot 5 string black tremolo. Lot of fun to play. Added thumb rest. Yesterday got Seymour Duncan Apollo linear Humbucker to replace the bridge pickup. Thing sounds mint! High output noise is no longer an issue like stock J produced.

I've had my Jag V for well over 6 months and it's amazing, a good reliable bass until I get my new 6 to start becoming an exclusively extended range player. Only ever had problems from No-Stand Syndrome(I dropped it) and it easily got fixed. Weird thing is though it's completely disappeared from every online retailer since I bought it. I'm guessing eventually it'll become a collector's guitar.

I made my own 5 string Jag ... with t-bird pickups.

Hey all,

Great thread on these Squier Vin Mod Jag Basses! Really cool. I'm contacting you because I have a friend that recently got one of these basses and has tried to replace the pick ups but he wired them into the controls incorrectly. I have not seen his bass yet but, he says the boost control is now the volume and the volume controls are now not working at all. I believe he mistakenly thought he could just follow the wiring instructions provided by Seymour Duncan that he received with his Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder replacement pick ups. Needless to say he is not that experienced with upgrading or soldering but he wanted to try to do it himself and now has ask me for help. While I have had a lot of experience with wiring up passive basses, I really don't have much experience with active pre-amp powered basses especially these specific active Squier Vin Mod Jag Basses. I've looked all over the internet for a wiring diagram for these but have come up totally empty. Unfortunately there is no Squier wiring database provided by Fender like they do for their Fender basses. I'm suppose to receive his bass today. Would y'all be able give me direction as to exactly where the pick ups should be wired in as if the bass was in totally stock condition at the time of the up grade? It would be a huge help. Thanks, -LW

Hi all, this post has been silent for a good few years but wondering if anyone out there is selling a VM Jaguar V or would consider a swap for contemporary Jazz V?
