I noticed a lot of discussion about string spacing at the bridge.
Tech note here; Fender bridges are not rocket science.
If you have an older one, with the threaded design all you have to do
to change spacing is find the thread that gives you what you want.
The newer ones, with dedicated notches require a little work, but no bux.
If you don't like the spacing, remove the saddles, unscrew the height adjusters,
reinsert them from the other side, reinstall and you now have blank saddles.
Mark where you want the strings to be with a sharpie and cut notches with a file.
Instant custom string spacing for no money.

Greetings from the North,

I've been spending more time south of the border so a couple of years ago I picked up an Oly White VM Jazz to play when there. Last spring I started to notice some weird overtones when I played thru the Rumble 100 and it wasn't the amp. Yes I checked the amp. So I thought I might try and swap out the pups for something different. I dropped in a set of Lindy Fralins. What a difference! The clarity and fullness has transformed this bass into something I now really enjoy playing.

I have posted these updates in the Squier Perfect Fit thread, and I figure I should also post here.

the last time I posted about my 2014 VM, I had installed Duncan QP pickups and a generic 2-band preamp.
Since then, I have installed a set of Fender USA single coils out of a Marcus Miller signature bass and a Duncan Blackout 2- band preamp, as well as a Hipshot Kickass bridge (style 2 Squier screw pattern). I also swapped the neck out to a Warmoth Standard J5 Fretless: Roasted Maple/Jnlined Ebony, with Hipshot Ultralight Y tuners.
This is perhaps the best Fretless I have ever played.
