No mention of string spacing at the bridge. I would assume 19 mm, no?

Picture in this thread

Basically it's the natural VM 70's bass with the 5th string added. It's on my list to get when it comes out... (Along with the HH blacktop P)

It uses the standard 5 string bridges that other Squiers use & I believe they are 19mm from the quick glance I did at google. Hey Squier offers 19mm spacing why do other companies make people jump through hoops for it?

Hmmm.. I do believe I checked out the deluxe (as it was the first to come up on google) so you may be right. Can't find anything on Squier's site other than there's two distinct part numbers for the Deluxe V bridge (006-2436-000) and the Affinity V bridge (007-3789-000).

That being said, the 4 string 70's Jazz uses a different bridge than the Affinity series as well. So until we get a few out in the wild, I don't think we'll have a final answer.

Sorry palI'm not sure about the spacing. The tone was awful, very flat, no growl or punch, regardless of pickup/tone settings. Action was good, nice and low, I didnt measure. B was too floppy for my liking. Neck was a bit fat andfeltquite clunky in my hand (i lovejazz style necks). Heavy bass too, but Im no good at estimatingweights, sorry. Finish was good, wood grain looked beautiful and the binding suited it very well. 75/25 in favour of neck pickup with tone maxed gave a little growl, and this would probably complement some stainless strings or boomers. The tone is warm and deep but just a bit undefined for my taste.

Anything else? Sorry for inconsistent grammar and spelling, I'm on an ipad and can't use the cirtual keyboard for the life of me!

Giggidy giggidy!

I just placed my order through Amazon. I'm a huge fan of the Affinity 5 (I have 2 - 1 modded, 1 stock) and used to own the VM 4 string jazz. I'll post pics / impressions / clips after I get it.

Yeah, but it was only that dissapointment which lead me to try out an Ibby SR370m which was gods gift to me. Effortless playing and the salesman didn't believe I'd only been playing a year! :D

I haven't noticed a floppy B on the Affinity, but I'm thinking the VM will have a different neck to account for the 4+1 design vs. the Affinity's in-line 5. It's probably getting flats which will increase the tension while hopefully decreasing said flop.

I thnk flats would really give the bass a thumpy warm feel, whichnis probably smarter than trying to get growl out of it
