Well, according to Fender GBI, it's real ... so you better start saving. If it is fake, it is a cruel joke.

If you bother to read the thread you'll see a source given in post #6:

Where that person got it from, I don't know. Personally, I think it's a scam.
GAS GAS GAS
I would buy it and pop a fretless neck on it!
I would TOTALLY feel better moding this than a Jag..
I'd at least put a full size neck on it... new pups... tremolo bridge... haha i WILL have my bass version of a Jazzmaster:
If you would bother to read my post, you'd realize I mentioned I've seen it on several forums but still have no official source. we'll see if it actually shows up; don't get me wrong, I really hope that it is true but I'm still calling fraud.
Hope I'm wrong.
Hello,
Thanks for your interest in the New Squire Jaguar Bass.
It seems that some pre-release information has been leaked via the USA.
Unfortunately we are unable to provided any release details as yet, these should be officially released within the next 3 weeks (including full specs and rrps).
We currently believe the basses should be available to order from the end June with them arriving instores towards the end of July/Early August.
Full details will be issued on the Squire website as well as details sent to you local Squire dealer.
Kind Regards
Bruce Coyle

In the email from Fender GBI which I posted, you are correct that Squier is mis-spelled as Squire - a lot of people mis-spell it in that way.Hmmm ... so Fender GB can't spell 'Squier' ..?
Even in the UK, 'Squier' is the correct spelling for the guitar manufacturer. No, it's just written different over the pond.
Just like color and colour.
"Sarcasm"
Everyone makes mistakes considering spelling now and then...
Wow, another Fender/Squier bass in black. Shocking.
Maybe they'll reinvent the wheel next time and finish it in sunburst.
Wait a sec...
