No longer a slave to GC.
Just got one of these in my store and gave it a run-through, and damn these things are cool!

I dig the tone control w/ the notches in the knob let you set the tone to a specific level. Pups were pretty nice. Good amount of bite to them, with plenty of warm thump. Not TOOOO noisy when you roll one or the other off, but there's a little hum - a lot less than I was expecting.

The neck played pretty well, solid maple neck, rosewood board. Setup out of the box wasn't terrible. Neck is pretty straight, I may tweak it a bit but overall pretty good. The bridge on it is a little beefier than the standard MIM bridges I've seen, it looks to be a tad thicker.

So if you haven't played one yet, looks like they'll be in more GC stores pretty soon.

Anybody own one of these yet?

Overall a pretty sweet bass w/ a lot of cool tones for under $300. Might have just made my GAS list.

I don't really enjoy the feel of Fender basses, but I do like the looks and sound of them. I would be interested in trying out one of these new Jaguars, not so much for myself but to be able to make recommendations to others about it. This particular Squier looks like it might be a real winner.
