Squier VM pickguards?

I'm possibly getting a Squier VM jazz V bass soon, and while I like the look of the white one, the black pickguard doesn't do anything for me. Are there any sources for pick guards other than sending it out to have a custom made one?

You can check at Stewart-McDonald (http://www.stewmac.com/) and Allparts (http://www.allparts.com/bass-parts) and see if they have pickguards for a V. I believe that the metal control plate on a Squier is shaped a little different from standard Fender parts, so a pickguard made for standard Fenders may need a little trimming there to fit right. At least, I had that problem with a Squier VM 4-string, and I think I've seen it mentioned elsewhere on TB; try doing a search.

I just put a tort pickguard on my Squier VM jazz V. It's a standard-issue Fender Jazz V pickguard, and it just took about five minutes of gentle filing with an emery board at the neck pocket to drop right on. Sorry, not the best pic, but it's what I have at the moment.

When I first received my Squier Sandard PJ Special it had a mirror pickguard. I didn't know that in advance; the ad's description did not mention it and the photo looked like a white one. I went on craigslist with a request for a white pickguard for a P bass and someone gave me one off their Fender - free. I just had to go a few miles across Austin to get it. It dropped right onto my Squier, screw holes and everything.

You might be so lucky.
